Job Description

Team / Program: Program Implementation 

Grade :4A 

Post Type: National 

Child Safeguarding: 

Level 3:  the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

Duty Station: Two for Zikuala and one for Sekota 

ROLE PURPOSE:  

The child protection Officer will work directly with participants, partners, and other project staff, community relays, Child-Friendly Space Facilitators, members of Community Child Protection Mechanisms, sectors at the departmental level, administrative and local authorities, other humanitarian stakeholders in the area, etc. to ensure the proper implement. Quality practice of implementing CM action plan. Regular visits & Case collection; Support to updates regular basis service mapping; CM case recode & support for documentation; Ensure all child protection concerns identified are communicated in a timely manner with respective persons.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Participate actively in the implementation of Child Protection project activities. 

  • Motivate and sustain teamwork among child protection assistants, data entry clerks, case workers, outreach workers, adolescent social hubs instructors, and CFS volunteers for greater ministry impact, in the community.

  • Develop an internal system for the identification of children's needs during activities and ensure linkage between children's services and other partners and stakeholders' activities including CFS, adolescent and youth clubs among others.

  • Set up a child help desk and link it to the referral pathway while providing the necessary advice and support to children, the community, and other stakeholders on child participation, psychosocial support, as well as CFS implementation and all its integrated programs. 

  • Work with the community and camp leadership to select mixed gender volunteers, caregivers/animators/facilitators, case workers and outreach reach workers.

  • Assist to design trainings and Provide opportunities for capacity building to field level team in case management process, procedure, and relevant interventions among others.

  • Conduct regular supervision meetings with caseworkers/assign assistant for case management to ensure the effectiveness of case management process.

  • Review the follow up of cases, and ensure all cases are managed within acceptable timelines.

  • Work in close collaboration with the community systems to strengthen the relationship with the community in line with the referral system.

  • Work with the relevant team and stakeholders especially child protection team to ensure close links between case management and SCI work with community-based child protection mechanism, CFSs, learning centers among others.

  • Ensure internal and external referral mechanisms (with other sectors) are in place and cases are appropriately managed and followed up when referred.

  • Ensure safeguarding compliance (this includes visitors and media protocols, partnering with communities and other agencies or CBOs and children participation) with Save the children policies, CPSS and standards and guidelines.

  • Take part an implementation of case management program interventions, manage and support the PSS Program Implementation Team including Coaching with clear standards of accountability.

Organize/facilitate the registration, verification, mobilization of project beneficiaries and engage on monitoring of the subsequent meetings with the community and other stakeholders. 

  • Organize and facilitate meetings on discuss and presentation of project activities with beneficiaries’ communities, with support of security field officers. 

  • Participate in identification/selection of target beneficiaries per the criteria. 

  • Involve actively in selection of community committee/beneficiaries committee.

  • Participate in the training of community committee for beneficiaries’ selection criteria.

  • Create better understanding on agency’s implementing activities among beneficiaries. 

  • Create direct linkage between beneficiaries with INGO, NGO, and existing community structures. 

  • Work with relevant actors to ensure accountability and transparency in the course of the implementation of the project activities. 

Represent the organization when dealing with partners. 

  • Analyze and build on experience in `` to share the lesson learnt. 

  • Explain the project's activities and objectives to the partners and the population.

  • Act link between the organization and beneficiaries. 

  • Perform other duties given by line manager.

Job Requirements

 Educational Qualifications:

  • Minimum BA/BSC Sociology, social work, Health and Nutrition, Food security and other related fields

  • Minimum of 2 years-related work experience and NGO work experience

OTHER SKILLS:

  •  Relevant training and/or work experience in field of child protection in emergency response, Case Management, MHPSS, SGBV, etc. 

  • Good analytical capacity

  • Good human relations- team spirit- Autonomy

  • Good knowledge of the intervention areas

  • knowledge of humanitarian response Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Note

Hardship allowance will be paid 50% of the basic salary for Female staff and 40% of the basic salary for Male staff.

The duty station of the position holder will be in One Sekota and 2 Ziquala Woreda for one year with a possible extension. This role is offered based on national terms and conditions only.
