Job Description

On behalf of Nisir microfinance, The Talent Firm is recruiting for the position of Company Secretary.

Nisir Microfinance Institution Share Company is one of the emerging financial institutions established in 2014 according to the 1960 Commercial Code of Ethiopia the microfinancing business proclamation No. 626/2009 and other regulations enacted by the National Bank of Ethiopia. Nisir microfinance institution S.C. is a growing institution that is currently operating at 12 branches. Nisir is currently serving more than 15,000 clients with exceptionally praised customer service. Nisirs' main products are saving and credit. Saving pays depositors an attractive interest and our credit-to-loan clients have optional payment modalities.

About the Role

To enhance the productivity of the CEO through streamlined stakeholder engagement and focus on strategic matters through convening and providing administration for annual general meetings (AGMs): such as, producing agendas, taking minutes, conveying decisions and handling meeting correspondence; provide legal, financial and/or strategic advice during and outside of meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the communication between the company and the Board of Directors.

  • Act as the secretary for the BOD of Nisir.

  • Organize board meeting agendas, prepare minutes of the meeting and ensure its documentation.

  • Create a smooth communication between the CEO’s office and other departments.

  • Screen calls, visitors, and emails to eliminate and/or prioritize issues in order to maximize the CEO’s daily calendar.

  • Coordinate CEO’s schedule, conduct daily briefings with the CEO to keep him/her well informed.

  • Compose and prepare correspondence, acknowledgement letters and other important memos.

  • Coordinate and arrange meetings, prepare agendas, reserving and preparing facilities.

  • Participate in meetings as requested to take meeting notes for future distribution and follow-up.

  • Update the CEO on the status of implementation of direction given to the executive management.

  • Propose annual budget requirements for Chief Executive Officer’s Offices.

  • Serve as the President's administrative liaison to the company’s Board of Directors in accordance with the rules and regulations set out in bylaws regarding board and board committee matters.

  • Edit and complete first drafts of written communications to external stake holders.

  • Regularly review local and international newspapers, journals, magazines and other appropriate media and identify and highlight relevant reports and findings to the CEO’s attention.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Law, Management, Public Administration or related field of or Bachelor’s degree in Law, Management, Public Administration or related field of study 

  • Experience: For master's degree applicants (6) years of demonstrated experience out of which two (2) years in a managerial position and for bachelor’s degree applicants eight (8) years of demonstrated experience of which three (3) years in a managerial position.
