Job Description

Finance & Grant Officers handle all tasks related to the budgeting and accounting aspects of a company or organisation. They implement and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting procedures, and prepare documentation for external audits. They collect information related to financial statements such as assets, liabilities, equity, and cash flow in order to assess the company's financial position to prepare annual budgets and forecasts

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible to manage all finance activities of the projects under his/her responsibility

  • Provide technical support for the project accountants under his/her supervision

  • Review all financial documents of projects under his/her responsibility

  • Responsible to maintain financial documents in hard and soft copy

  • Posting accounting records on Peachtree accounting system

  • Prepare budget forecast for project under his/her management

  • Monthly closing works, adjusting entries, bunk reconciliation and etc.

  • Prepare periodic financial reports, such us monthly, quarterly, and annual

  • Prepare donor report based on the grant agreement and as needed

  • Prepare monthly payroll

  • Ensure timely settlement of payroll deductions and government taxes such as income tax, withholding tax, pension, and PF ad etc

  • Ensue the maintenance of Ethiopian government law and CSCs polices

  • Check the expense are complying with donor agreement

  • Provide support in budget preparation like annual and donor

  • Work in collaboration with other finance and program teams

  • Responsible to provide document for internal and external auditors

  • Responsible to provide the necessary justification for financial reports and documents provided by him/her

  • Follow up proper settlement of projects and staff work advances 

  • Prepare work advance aging report

  • Check on payment request for budget and bank accounts balance

  • Checking reasonable breakdowns before payment is processed

  • Controlling and follow up of expenses as per their allocation in the approved project document and budget transfer notes

  • Frequent monitoring of the project financial activities

  • Responsible to prepare annual financial statements of respective Projects In IPSAS

  • Ensure that various donors' regulations are complied with

  • Ensure the Compliance of the EKHCDC’s Policies and Procedures

  • Prepare and provide documents for donor's audit as per the projects agreement and as needed

  • Responsible to carry out additional duties assigned by his/her immediate supervision

Salary: as per the organization's salary scale

Term of Employment: Contract

Job Requirements

Education

  • BA degree in accounting & related of study from a recognized College, University

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 years' experience in accounting finance & grant work 

Technical skills required:

  • Computer skill of MS-Word, Excel, power point & Peachtree Accounting
