Introduction

With funding from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) via Caritas Germany, we are launching the Integrated Emergency Response for Drought-Affected Agropastoral Communities Project in the Elwaye and Dubuluq Districts of the Borena Zone in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. To support the implementation of this project, ECC-SDCO is seeking qualified applicants for the following positions.

Job Summary:

The Project Secretary Cashier will support the financial and administrative functions of the GFFO-funded humanitarian project. This role is essential for ensuring proper cash management, facilitating communication, and maintaining organized project documentation. The Project Secretary Cashier will play a key role in enabling the effective implementation of project activities in the Yabelo field office and surrounding districts.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Handle cash transactions, including disbursements, receipts, and petty cash management according to organizational policies.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are properly documented and reconciled.

  • Assist in preparing financial reports and budgets, providing timely information to the Project Manager.

Administrative Support:

  • Organize and maintain project documentation, including contracts, agreements, and correspondence.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for project-related inquiries, facilitating effective communication between team members and stakeholders.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain an organized filing system for financial documents, project reports, and other important records.

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information in accordance with organizational policies.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies related to financial management and reporting.

Community Engagement:

  • Occasionally travel to Elwaye and Dubuluq districts to assist with community meetings and project activities, providing administrative support as needed.

  • Assist in collecting feedback and documenting community interactions related to project implementation.

Reports to: Project Coordinator

Salary: As per the scale of the organization

Duration: One year end June 30, 2025 with possible of extension

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills for financial reporting and cash management.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and engage with community members respectfully.

  • Language: Proficiency in English and Oromiffa is essential.
