The Ethiopian Catholic Church Social and Development Commission (ECC-SDCO) is committed to addressing the diverse needs of the Ethiopian people through a range of social and development initiatives. With a robust network comprising 13 branch offices and 72 sub-branch offices spread across every region and major city in Ethiopia, ECC-SDCO implements comprehensive programs targeting key areas such as: Health, Education, Job Creation, Humanitarian Assistance, Resilience Building, Women’s Empowerment, Migration and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) and Community Development.

With funding from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) via Caritas Germany, we are launching the Integrated Emergency Response for Drought-Affected Agropastoral Communities Project in the Elwaye and Dubuluq Districts of the Borena Zone in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. To support the implementation of this project, ECC-SDCO is seeking qualified applicants for the following positions.

Position Summary:

Job Summary:

  • The Project Coordinator will lead and manage the implementation of the GFFO-funded humanitarian project in Yabelo, ensuring that all activities are executed effectively and in accordance with project objectives, timelines, and donor regulations. This role requires a strong leader with extensive experience in project management, humanitarian work, and coordination with diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement detailed project work plans, setting clear objectives, milestones, and deliverables.

  • Oversee all project activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and compliance with donor requirements.

  • evaluations and provide ongoing training and support to enhance staff capabilities.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, community leaders, partner organizations, and beneficiaries.

  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops to promote project visibility and gather community feedback.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project impact and effectiveness.

  • Analyze project data and prepare regular reports for the Program Manager and donor agencies, highlighting successes, challenges, and lessons learned.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial policies.

  • Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with financial controls and reporting requirements.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare timely progress reports for internal and external stakeholders, documenting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of project activities, financial transactions.

Location: Yabelo Field Office

Reports to: Branch Development Coordinator

Salary: As per the scale of the organization

Duration: One year end June 30, 2025 with possible of extension

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Development Studies, Public Administration, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.

  • Experience: At least 10 years of relevant experience in project management, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts; experience with GFFO-funded projects is preferable.

Skills:

  • Proven expertise in project management methodologies, including familiarity with tools for monitoring and evaluation.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership abilities, capable of motivating and guiding teams toward common goals.

  • Language: Proficiency in English and Oromiffa is essential.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies
