Job Description
The Ethiopian Catholic Church Social and Development Commission (ECC-SDCO) is committed to addressing the diverse needs of the Ethiopian people through a range of social and development initiatives. With funding from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) via Caritas Germany, we are launching the Integrated Emergency Response for Drought-Affected Agropastoral Communities Project in the Elwaye and Dubuluq Districts of the Borena Zone in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. To support the implementation of this project, ECC-SDCO is seeking qualified applicants for the following positions.

The Project Development Agents (PDAs) will play a vital role in the implementation of the GFFO-funded humanitarian project in Elwaye and Dubuluq districts. They will work closely with local communities to facilitate project activities, ensure community engagement, and support the project's overall objectives. The PDAs will act as the link between the project and the communities, ensuring alignment with project goals and local needs.
The WASH Assistant will support the implementation of the GFFO-funded humanitarian project by focusing on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) activities in the Yabelo field office and surrounding areas, specifically Elwaye and Dubuluq districts. The WASH Assistant will work closely with communities to promote healthy practices and ensure access to safe water and sanitation facilities.
WASH Program Implementation:
Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH activities in accordance with project objectives and timelines.
Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in water supply and sanitation facilities in target communities.
Assist the monitoring of Water scheme construction
Community Engagement and Capacity Building:
Facilitate community mobilization to promote hygiene awareness and encourage community participation in WASH initiatives.
Organize and conduct training sessions for community members on hygiene practices, water management, and sanitation.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Regularly monitor and evaluate the progress of WASH activities, ensuring adherence to project indicators and quality standards.
Compile and submit weekly and monthly reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations to the WASH Coordinator.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Work closely with local authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations to coordinate WASH efforts and leverage additional resources.
Participate in community meetings and workshops to advocate for improved WASH services and sustainability.
Material and Resource Management:
Assist in the procurement and distribution of WASH materials and supplies, ensuring proper inventory management.
Support the maintenance and repair of WASH facilities as needed, collaborating with local technicians and community members.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all WASH activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Promote the use of protective measures and safe practices during the implementation of WASH activities.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Water engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in WASH projects, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of WASH principles, practices, and standards.
Familiarity with community engagement and behavior change communication strategies.
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong communication and facilitation skills for effective community engagement.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with diverse stakeholders.
Language: Proficiency in English and Oromiffa is essential.

Ensure compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies
