Reports to:                       Health Officer

Duty Station:                    Zata Woreda 

Length of Contract:          9 months 

Basic Salary:                    ETB 43,000

Job Summary: 

Midwifery based at each intervention site of Zata woredas will be responsible for implementing the ERM-funded Emergency Health response component of the humanitarian health assistance project for communities affected by drought and displacement. 

S/he will provide technical support to health facilities including health posts as well as participate in carrying out essential lifesaving primary health care services. The incumbent is expected to work in collaboration with the district health offices, local stakeholders, staff of NCA, and partners for effective implementation and monitoring of the project activities. 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the district health facilities to provide technical assistance and participate in conducting maternal and reproductive health emergencies in Zata woreda. 

  • Provide technical support and participate in carrying out all components of MNCH packages (ANC, PNC, FP, PMTCT, labor and delivery, EPI) in the project implementation woredas.      

  • Participate in static clinic and/or outreach services to provide essential lifesaving primary health care services to communities affected by the pandemic and natural disasters.           

  • Work in collaboration with the district health facilities including health posts and provide technical support to health workers for the delivery of emergency and primary health care services such as IMNCI, ICCM, and CBNC activities, and improve the quality of MCH services.            

  • Provide technical support to health workers and participate in fundamental nursing care, counseling, and treatment for sexual and Gender Based Violence victims.

  • Makes sure that the health staff have adequate training on key maternal and child health activities per national manual/protocol,

  • Ensures the availability of job aids, reporting formats, therapeutic products, and drugs for program implementation at the health facility level.

  • Follow and ensure, action is taken by all responsible parties on gaps identified during supervision.

  • Supports and liaises with local health staff and provides on-the-job training/coaching and capacity building where required.

  • Undertake individual evaluations with the team and improve gaps.

  • Makes sure that health professionals from the health facilities participate in the daily routine work for sustainability and smooth phase-out strategy,

  • Organizes Weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on time to the project coordinator and provides updates when needed.

  • Report any problems on time to the project coordinator.

Job Requirements

  • BSc/Diploma in Midwifery Nurse

  • A minimum of 4/6 years working experience out of which 2 years in NGOs who work in humanitarian response.

  • Experience in team management, and community work.

  • Experience in delivery room, family planning, and EPI.

  • Good relations with other people, Good relations and ability to communicate with others.

  • Good capacity to work in a team and flexibility.
