Millennium Healthcare Enterprise is a public enterprise duly registered by the Federal democratic republic of Ethiopia ministry of trade and regional integration, issued under commercial registration and business license Proclamation number 980/2016 and   owned by St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College. The objective of the assignment is to recruit Director for the newly established diagnostic center that strives to address “All Ethiopian samples should be tested in Ethiopia” and can run full scope of IVD service equipped with world-class technologies, highly skilled and mannered professionals that assure high level quality service for the community in balance of reasonable pricing model.  The protagonist Director we are looking is best in leadership role, in management of the center, collaboration, coordination and partnership to lined up the mission and vision of the Center. The Director will seize on opportunities to expand work with partners in the community, embrace a growing technical and moral leadership role that ensuring the customer satisfaction.  

The Diagnostic center Director is a suitably qualified laboratory professional who is legally, morally, and ethically responsible for the scope, standards, and quality of service. He / She shall be aware of and perform the duties and responsibilities of the position consistent with standards of accreditation of laboratories that exist at a national or international level. He / she stands responsible for medically useful, accurate information made available in a timely fashion to enhance medical services to patients. He / She will participate in all managerial decisions and guides the operation of the laboratory ranging from selection of staff, choice of methods, purchase of equipment, quality assurance, quality control, safety, hours of operation, scheduling of staff, and utilization management. The Diagnostic center Director complies with the Ethiopia labor proclamation No. 1156/2019 Code of Ethics.

Oversees through subordinate Managers a with multiple functional disciplines/occupations, OR manages a program, regardless of size, that has critical impact upon the diagnostic center. Significant responsibility for formulating and administering policies and programs, manages significant human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a very high degree of autonomy. Frequently influences business decisions made by Board. Oversees through subordinate Managers the accountability and stewardship of resources and the development of systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Negotiates and influences others to understand and accept new concepts, practices and approaches.

Salary; - Negotiable

Contract Period: - one year with possible extension.

Job Requirement

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology with additional MBA, MPH, MSc in project management, or Laboratory related MSC or PhD or equivalent plus 8 years’ experience including 2 years managerial or Project mgt or program mgt experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent program, time management, and communication skills

  • Ability to organize work, delegate, and achieve goals and objectives

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple service lines

  • Good knowledge of: quality assurance process and best practices in clinical laboratory operations and models and the concept of public health; integrated and coordinated service delivery models.

  • Experience: supervising employees in a laboratory and/or healthcare setting

  • Demonstrated expertise in business and management/ project management practices.

  • Experience presenting in meetings, conferences, and seminars

  • Experience in understanding the national health system.

  • Experience in working in hospitals and or programs.
