Job Description
The GESI Coordinator will be accountable for the formulation, design, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of WVE supported
emergency programming, with a focus on child protection, GBV prevention and response and GESI interventions. This work will be
undertaken within the context of the broader WVE response to the IDP and humanitarian crisis work. The GESI coordinator represent the CP
and GBV roles that will support the coordination of other emergency programming (health and nutrition, education) as relevant within the
WVE response to emergency crisis work.
Leads the preparation of ongoing situation reports, periodic updates and analyses, by compiling and analyzing data, and related information on overall IDP, returnees and humanitarian crisis in the target area, with a specific focus on GESI, child protection/GBV, and prepare written inputs accordingly to inform effective program planning, development and management.
- Provide technical support and guidance for the implementation of Project specific GESI interventions and support.
Produce periodic reports on situation of internal displacement and its effects on the life of children and women.
Strong partnership established and communication maintained for valuable contribution to regional level GESI responsive project.
Conduct regular monitoring visits to intervention woredas to ensure the progress of project implementation on a good track and develop mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the impact of the project implementation in different location, and ensure learning is integrated into future program design.
- Facilitate documentation of best practices and challenges to generate materials for strategic direction of further implementations of GESI, CP & GBV projects.
Improved efficiency and increased quality effect of project implementation.
Monthly /Bimonthly travel, monitoring and engagement plan.
Quality documentation ensured and GESI sensitive standard and quality monitoring and evaluation conducted, and result and lesson shared.
Establish effective working relationships with the government counterparts,
implementing partners, private and public sectors, consultants, and other development organizations and target populations in the program operation. And Work with the implementation partners to identify and address potential capacity building and/or support needs. Participate at Zonal and Woreda Level monthly GESI, CP and GBV cluster meeting as required.
- Collaboration and networking established with stakeholders
- Protection cluster reports.
- GESI related regional coordination platforms representing WVE i.e regional alliance to end CM and FGM.; as well as internal GESI platform.
Ensure effective information sharing and learning across the agencies through
preparing monthly and quarterly report updates on project activities for internal and Donor consumption, regularly track budget versus actual execution of budget including monthly FFR review together with field finance and take timely corrective action on irregularities.
Quality documentation and report ensured.
Procurement, budget forecast and budget document enhanced
Provide technical support including capacity building trainings on GESI, GBV prevention and response and MHPSS for CPGBV officer, social workers, MHPSS specialists and key government stake holders
Ensure Program implementation is in line with international of GESI, Child protection and GBV minimum standard.
Monitoring report
Compliance with child protection standards.
Adhering to International minimum standards.
A minimum of five years’ experience in child protection, Gender-based violence, GESI and related areas, program/project development and management in emergency context is required. Proven experience in designing and implementing child protection, GBV and GESI trainings to a variety of stakeholders.
Direct case management and experience working with children, women and adolescents is an asset.
Knowledge and experience on Gender Based Violence programming including prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) an asset. Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
Extensive training in the fields of CP/GBV, psycho-social wellbeing, case management, GESI and application of international technical guidelines and standards in Child Protection, GBV and GESI. Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
First degree in social work, sociology, psychology, Gender, child protection, public health and relevant fields of social sciences and five years of work experience or master’s degree in these fields and one-year relevant work experience.
Knowledge and skills of and ability to implement integrated CP responses, Gender Based Violence, including GESI. Awareness of or interest in community-based protection mechanisms. Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
