Job Description
In the framework of the Protect Amhara project, under the supervision of the Project manager and Humanitarian Access Expert, CIFA is looking for 1 Social Worker for Mental Health and Psycho-social support activities in Debre Birhan City.
CIFA is an international NGO with over 40 years of commitment in protecting the most vulnerable children and youth. Working in Ethiopia for over 20 years, CIFA supports the access to primary and secondary education, especially for girls; it fights against the worst forms of discrimination and supports women’s economic empowerment. With this approach, CIFA currently works in Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa City Administration, Amhara (South Wollo), Hareri and Oromia Region.
The Project “PROTECT Amhara: promotion of protection and access to health and nutrition services for internally displaced people and vulnerable communities in emergency situations” is a project that is planned to be implemented in Tehuledere and Dessie Zuria Woredas of South Wollo Zone and Debre Birhan City, Amhara Region. The project is financed by Italian agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
The Objective of the project is to Contribute to a rapid and effective humanitarian response in Amhara region to improve access to essential health services to vulnerable populations affected by conflicts in South Wollo and in Debre Berhan town.
Duration Contract
15 months, with 60 days probation period
Location
Debre Birhan City, with periodic travels to CIFA Dessie Field Office for training and/or coordination meetings, if needed
The Social Worker will be responsible for Implementing Mental Health Pscho-Social Support (MHPSS) and Multi-purpose cash (MPC) support in collaboration with the health team under the supervision of the Project Manager and Humanitarian Access Expert.
Conduct planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of MHPSS and Multi-purpose cash (MPC) transfer Activities at targeted IDP center in Debre Birhan city in collaboration with our partner CUAMM Staffs
Sensitize the beneficiaries so that they are aware of project objectives, project modalities, entitlements, right to complain, complaint modalities
Ensuring that Multi-purpose cash (MPC) assistance is delivered to targeted beneficiaries as per predetermined targeting criteria.
Conduct beneficiary identification, selection and independent or joint verification processes as per jointly set criteria to ensure impartiality, in coordination with project team members, local authorities and IDP committees
Facilitate and monitor the proper distribution and documentation of cash payments to beneficiaries
Ensure programs are implemented according to established timelines and standards.
Ensure that the program resources are implemented in a transparent and accountable manner and handed over or completed in a way that promotes local capacities and sustainable operations.
Keep record of all required documents related to cash program, beneficiary selection, distribution and post distribution monitoring.
Supervise or monitor the implementation of Multi-purpose cash (MPC) transfer activities. to ensure they are achieving desired outcomes and meeting beneficiary needs.
Facilitate and lead pscho-social support related activities in the targeted IDP centers in collaboration with our partner CUAMM staffs
· Be the focal point for Multi-purpose cash (MPC) support and PSS activities in collaboration with Humanitarian access expert
Bachelor Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology and other related fields
Experience:
At least 4 years' experience in relevant fields is required;
Preferably experience with Internally displaced peoples (IDPs) and proven experience on Multi-purpose cash support and Pscho-social support (PSS)
Previous experience working with INGOs or humanitarian organizations for 2 years;

Strong interpersonal and empathic skills, ability to analyze, report, work independently and in a team
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
Good management, administrative and communication skills;
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for beneficiaries
Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting
High degree of flexibility and strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
Establishes good relations with beneficiaries and local government representatives
Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Languages:
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal;
Excellent communication skills in Amharic, both written and verbal
The monthly basic salary is 25,100.00(Twenty-five thousand one hundred only, transport allowance is 2,200.00(Two thousand two hundred only), and11% pension 2,761.00 (Two thousand Seven hundred sixty-one only) Gross Salary =30 061,00 ETB
