Job Description
The primary role and responsibility for the GBV expert is to ensure the overall technical and programmatic coordination of GBV prevention, response, and management initiatives targeting IDP and host communities. the GBV expert's primary focus is to provide technical leadership, capacity building, and program development to ensure the effective implementation and coordination of GBV-related initiatives targeting both IDP and host communities within the organization's humanitarian portfolio.
Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify GBV-related needs, risks, and existing protection mechanisms within the IDP and host community populations.
Develop and implement tailored GBV prevention and response strategies that address the unique vulnerabilities and contexts of the IDP and host communities.
Provide technical guidance and capacity-building support to local service providers, community leaders, and other stakeholders on GBV-related topics, emphasizing survivor-centered, gender-sensitive, and trauma-informed approaches.
Facilitate the establishment and strengthening of multi-sectoral GBV referral pathways to ensure accessible and coordinated services for survivors within both the IDP and host communities.
Design and deliver community-based GBV awareness campaigns, educational programs, and outreach initiatives targeting diverse groups, including women, girls, men, and boys.
Conduct safety audits and collaborate with community members to identify and mitigate GBV-related risks, particularly in areas where IDPs and host communities interact.
Provide direct psychosocial support, case management, and access to specialized services for GBV survivors within the IDP and host communities, upholding a survivor-centered approach.
Cultivate partnerships and strengthen collaboration with relevant government agencies, local and international NGOs, and community-based organizations to enhance the overall GBV prevention and response system.
Collect, analyze, and utilize sex- and age-disaggregated data to inform evidence-based programming, identify trends, and monitor the effectiveness of GBV interventions.
Contribute to the development of GBV-related policies, standard operating procedures, and guidelines to ensure a harmonized and rights-based approach across the IDP and host community contexts.
Provide technical support and capacity-building to other team members and actively participate in broader program design, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting efforts.
Reports to: Branch Manager
Salary: As per Organization’s scale and negotiable
Terms of Employment: 9 Months contract with possibility of extension based on availability of budget and performance
Education
BSc/MSc/PHD in Social work, Development study, Gender study, Psychology or related felids of study.
Work Experience
8/6/4 years of relevant experience and more specifically working on humanitarian programs
Skills and Competences
Strategic thinker – proven ability to translate strategic plans into action
Excellent oral and written communications in English
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize self and others
Sympathy with the aims and objectives of OSSHD
Language: Proficiency in English
