Job Description

DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs: Child Well-being and Education Development Program, Gender and Life Skill Development, Employable Skills Development Program, Advocacy, and Humanitarian Emergency Program. DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. 

Coordinates field-level needs assessments; youth-led community project identification, and business proposal development activities. Participates in the preparation of a detailed implementation plan in collaboration with another project team particularly on economic empowerment activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works closely with  entrepreneurs to identify and analyze the selected livelihood options 

  • Establishes working relationships and partnerships with government partners, donors, private actors, and other stakeholders to enhance structured opportunities for women's economic empowerment.

  • Promotes and supports target groups to innovate and/or create different ways to generate income such as fundraising initiatives and external funding via grants and sponsorship to ensure the sustainability of the youth centers and community projects.

  • Supports planning, organization, and implementation of events including workshops, awareness-raising campaigns, and experience-sharing opportunities.

  • Supports the engagement of  Targets in opportunities from the private sector within the target cities.

  • Performs other relevant duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor, Program Coordinator, and management of DEC.

  • Prepares and Presents reports for immediate supervisor and  Program Coordinator.

Job Requirements

  • BA/MA in Economics/ Accounting/ Management

Additional Skills

  • Experience in Entrepreneurship training provision /private sector or enterprise development.

  • Partnership development with  public-private sectors 

  • Fluent in English languages, Writing, and speaking skills in additional local languages are a plus ;

  • Good communication skills in teamwork team mobilizations and partnership management;

  • Experience in facilitating assessments, conducting training, best practice capturing, and working with communities Experience in working TVET.

  • Good report writing, use of technology application skills ;
