Job Description
The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that the production of soy oil cake meets the Ethiochicken quality standards. This role involves monitoring the production process, conducting tests, and implementing quality assurance protocols to ensure that the final product is safe, consistent, and complies with Ethiochciken and industry regulations. The Quality Control Officer will work closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues and ensure continuous improvement in the manufacturing process.
1. Quality Assurance & Control:
Monitor the entire production process, from raw material inspection to the final product, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Perform regular sampling and testing of soy oil cake to assess moisture content, protein levels, fat content, Soy cake cooking and particle size.
Maintain and calibrate Near Infrared Equipment (NIR) equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Document and analyze test results, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Ensure that all production batches meet the specified quality criteria before they are released for packaging and distribution.
Should be able to work alone with minimum assistance.
Can be able to prepare the Normal and Molar solutions
2. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that all quality control procedures comply with industry standards, company policies, and relevant government regulations (e.g., food safety, environmental regulations).
Prepare and maintain records of quality control tests and inspections as required by regulatory agencies.
Assist in preparing for and participating in internal and external audits.
3. Process Improvement:
Work closely with production teams to identify potential quality issues and develop solutions to prevent future occurrences.
Provide feedback and recommendations to management regarding improvements in production processes, raw materials, and finished product quality.
Develop and implement quality control procedures and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for new products or production processes.
4. Training & Development:
Train production staff on quality control procedures, proper use of testing equipment, and best practices for maintaining product quality.
Stay updated on industry trends, new testing methods, and regulatory changes, and ensure that the quality control team is informed and trained accordingly.
5. Health & Safety:
Ensure that all quality control activities are conducted in a safe manner, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Report any safety hazards or incidents to the appropriate personnel and participate in safety audits as required.
6. Reporting:
Prepare detailed reports on quality control activities, including test results, non-conformance issues, corrective actions taken, and overall product quality trends.
Communicate quality control findings to the Quality Assurance Manager, production teams, and other relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Bio-chemistry.
Experience in quality control or in a food manufacturing will be a plus but it is not mandatory.
Knowledge of soy oil cake production processes will be a plus.
Should be able to prepare Normal and Molar solutions
Proficient in using laboratory equipment and conducting chemical tests.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
