Job Description
The Shift Mechanical Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and systems within the soy oil factory during their assigned shift. This role is essential to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of production machinery, minimizing downtime and ensuring safety standards are upheld. The technician will work closely with other maintenance and production staff to address mechanical issues as they arise and perform preventive maintenance to avoid equipment failures.
1. Maintenance & Repair:
Perform routine maintenance on all mechanical equipment, including elevators, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and motors, to ensure optimal operation.
Diagnose and repair mechanical failures and malfunctions, minimizing production downtime.
Replace or repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
Ensure that all repairs and maintenance tasks are completed according to company standards and safety regulations.
Able to work independently in any of three shifts
2. Preventive Maintenance:
Execute preventive maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
Inspect equipment for wear and tear, potential failures, and report any issues that need addressing.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work performed and parts used.
3. Troubleshooting:
Respond promptly to mechanical breakdowns during the shift, diagnose the problem, and perform repairs efficiently to minimize production downtime.
Collaborate with electrical and other technical teams to resolve complex issues that involve both mechanical and electrical systems.
Analyze recurring issues and suggest improvements to prevent future occurrences.
4. Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance and repairs.
Ensure that all equipment and tools are used safely and properly stored after use.
Report any safety hazards or incidents to the shift supervisor and participate in safety audits and training sessions.
5. Equipment Monitoring:
Monitor the performance of mechanical systems during the shift to identify any irregularities.
Conduct routine checks on equipment such as pressure, temperature, and raw material flow to ensure they are operating within specified parameters.
Adjust machinery settings and perform calibrations as needed to maintain optimal performance.
6. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of all maintenance work, repairs, and adjustments made during the shift.
Report equipment status and any issues encountered during the shift to the incoming shift team and the maintenance manager.
Assist in maintaining an inventory of spare parts and tools required for mechanical maintenance.
7. Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on equipment performance and suggesting ways to improve mechanical reliability.
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
Qualifications:
Diploma or trade certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in a mechanical maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and rotating equipment.
Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Basic understanding of safety regulations and the importance of maintaining a safe work environment.
