WVE is working closely with the government and other stakeholders to respond to the needs of Internally Displaced People (IDP) in its multi-sectoral response plan including; Food and nutrition, WASH, and Protection of children and women affected by the humanitarian crises. WVE Child Protection interventions include establishing Child-Friendly Spaces in selected IDP sites and addressing gender-based violence (GBV) related needs by integrating into the other sectors to further strengthen a coherent protection response.
The emphasis of this position is on facilitating community participation and enabling children and women to access protection services to reduce their vulnerabilities and provide case management services for survivors.
The social worker will be accountable for facilitating community participation, enabling vulnerable groups (including women and children access protection services, reducing protection risks, providing case management services, and strengthening community-protection systems and awareness raise
Assist the project officer in situational assessment, operational planning, implementation, and monitoring of the IDP activities
Produce periodic reports on the situation of internal displacement and its effects on the lives of children and women
Provide individual and group psychological first aid/psycho-social support to children and women affected by the conflict to enable them to restore their safety, dignity, and hope.
Weekly travel and engagement plan.
Facilitate consultation and discussions with beneficiary populations, making sure they are involved in needs assessment, delivery of protection/assistance, and development/implementation of durable solutions.
Assessment report. Closely work with local authorities and relevant government sector (women and children affairs, education, social affairs, schools, etc.) to facilitate recovery and reiteration of the affected population
Collaboration and networking established with stakeholders. Coordinate and manage the establishment of child-friendly spaces in collaboration with schools, local authorities, and faith leaders. leaders. Monitoring reports
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
Required Professional Experience
First Degree in Social work, Sociology, Psychology, Education, or other eleven fields.
At least two years of relevant experience in child protection and related areas,
Knowledge and experience in Gender Based Violence programming an asset.
Knowledge of and ability to implement integrated CP responses, including Gender Based Violence.
Awareness of or interest in community-based protection mechanisms.
Direct case management and experience working with children and adolescents is an asset.
Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem-solving Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
Knowledge of and ability to implement integrated CP responses, including Gender Based Violence
Awareness of or interest in community-based protection mechanisms in an emergency context.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
University degree in social work, sociology, psychology, child protection, public health, and relevant fields of social sciences. Knowledge and skills of and ability to implement integrated CP responses, including Gender Based Violence.
Awareness of or interest in community-based protection mechanisms.
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
