Job Description

The Sales Manager at East Africa National Distribution Share Company (END S.C.) is responsible for managing and driving the company’s sales operations, focusing on achieving sales targets and expanding the customer base in the cement and construction materials sectors. The role involves developing sales strategies, leading the sales team, and fostering strong relationships with clients and partners. The Sales Manager will align the department’s goals with the company’s strategic pillars, particularly in growing gross sales, creating synergy with sister companies, and ensuring sustainable business growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Sales Strategy and Planning:

    • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve the company’s sales targets and market share objectives.

    • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive activities to identify new business opportunities.

    • Create and manage sales plans that align with the company’s overall strategic goals.

    • Collaborate with the marketing team to design promotional activities that drive sales growth.

  2. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and resources to succeed.

    • Set clear performance goals for the sales team, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.

    • Foster a positive and high-performing sales culture that encourages teamwork, innovation, and accountability.

    • Identify training and development needs for the sales team and organize appropriate programs.

  3. Customer Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, distributors, and partners to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

    • Oversee the development and implementation of customer service standards, ensuring timely and effective resolution of customer inquiries and issues.

    • Monitor customer feedback and use insights to improve products, services, and sales processes.

    • Engage with clients to understand their needs and ensure the company's offerings meet their expectations.

  4. Sales Operations and Process Optimization:

    • Oversee the day-to-day sales operations, including order management, pricing, and contract negotiations.

    • Implement and optimize sales processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the customer experience.

    • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.

    • Ensure the accurate and timely forecasting of sales and inventory needs.

  5. Financial Management:

    • Manage the sales budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial objectives.

    • Monitor sales revenue and profitability, making adjustments as needed to achieve financial targets.

    • Identify opportunities to increase sales margins and reduce costs without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.

    • Provide regular financial reports to the Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, highlighting key sales achievements and challenges.

  6. Market Expansion and Business Development:

    • Identify and pursue new market opportunities to expand the company’s presence in the cement and construction materials sectors.

    • Lead initiatives to enter new geographic markets, establish new distribution channels, and diversify the product portfolio.

    • Collaborate with the business development team to explore partnerships and alliances that support sales growth.

    • Participate in industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote the company and generate new leads.

  7. Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility:

    • Integrate sustainability practices into sales operations, promoting environmentally responsible products and services.

    • Lead initiatives that align sales activities with the company’s broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals.

    • Engage with stakeholders to ensure sales practices contribute positively to the community and align with societal expectations.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.

  • A Master’s degree or additional certifications in sales management is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, with at least 3 years in a sales management role.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in the cement, construction materials, or related industries.

  • Experience in leading and developing high-performing sales teams.

  • Strong understanding of sales processes, customer relationship management, and market dynamics.

Knowledge, Skills, Competence:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide the sales team to success.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on achieving sales growth and market expansion.

  • In-depth knowledge of sales principles, practices, and techniques, particularly in the cement and construction materials sectors.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Financial insight with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Proficiency in using sales management software and CRM tools.

  • Commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic business environment, making decisions under pressure.
