Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Logistics Strategy and Operations Management:

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies that align with the company’s objectives of efficient distribution of cement, construction materials, and related products.

  • Manage all logistics operations, including inbound and outbound transportation, warehousing, and distribution, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products.

  • Optimize transportation routes and warehousing strategies to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.

2. Transportation Management:

  • Oversee the transportation network, ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient movement of goods across various locations.

  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and transportation companies to ensure service quality and cost-effectiveness.

  • Implement transportation management systems (TMS) to improve route planning, vehicle utilization, and tracking.

3. Warehousing and Inventory Management:

  • Manage warehouse operations, including inventory control, order processing, and space utilization, ensuring efficient storage and movement of goods.

  • Implement inventory management practices to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce waste, and improve order fulfillment rates.

  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards within warehouse and distribution facilities.

4. Distribution and Order Fulfillment:

  • Oversee the distribution network, ensuring that products are delivered to customers in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment and resolve any logistics-related issues.

  • Monitor and analyze distribution performance metrics, implementing improvements to enhance service levels.

5. Budgeting and Cost Control:

  • Develop and manage the logistics budget, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial objectives.

  • Monitor logistics expenses, identifying opportunities for cost reduction without compromising service quality.

  • Provide regular reports to the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) on logistics performance, including financial metrics and operational efficiency.

6. Technology and Process Improvement:

  • Leverage technology to enhance logistics operations, including the use of warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

  • Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in logistics, applying relevant innovations to the company’s operations.

7. Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential disruptions in logistics operations.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, regulatory, and environmental standards within the logistics function.

  • Monitor and manage risks associated with transportation, warehousing, and distribution, including those related to environmental and social responsibility.

8. Talent Management and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.

  • Implement talent development programs to build a strong pipeline of future leaders within the logistics function.

Ensure the logistics organization is aligned with the company’s goals of institutional ownership and industry culture.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management  is an advantage.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale logistics operations, preferably in the cement, construction materials, or related industries.

  • Experience in managing third-party logistics providers and transportation companies.

Knowledge, Skills, Competence:

  • Deep understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.

  • Knowledge of the cement and construction materials industry, including market trends and logistics challenges.

  • Familiarity with logistics risk management and compliance requirements.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in logistics management software, including ERP, as well as data analysis tools.

  • Ability to develop and execute logistics strategies that align with the company’s broader business goals.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to manage complex logistics operations.

  • Financial insight with experience in budgeting, cost management, and financial analysis.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and sustainability.
