Job Description

The Chief Human Resource and Administration Officer (CHRO) at East Africa National Distribution Share Company (END S.C.) is a key strategic leader responsible for developing and executing human resource strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives. This role oversees all aspects of human resource management and administrative functions, including talent acquisition, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, compliance, and administrative and general services. The CHRO ensures that the company attracts, retains, and develops the best talent while fostering a positive work environment that promotes employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Strategic Human Resource Management:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support the company's strategic goals, including workforce planning, talent management, and succession planning.

  • Collaborate with senior management to understand the organization's goals and design HR initiatives that contribute to achieving these objectives.

  • Lead the development and execution of HR policies, procedures, and programs that promote a high-performance culture.

2. Talent Acquisition and Retention:

  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to ensure the company attracts and retains top talent.

  • Develop strategies for talent retention, including employee engagement programs, career development opportunities, and succession planning.

  • Ensure that the company’s talent acquisition strategies align with its diversity and inclusion goals.

3. Performance Management and Employee Development:

  • Implement and manage a performance management system that includes goal setting, performance appraisals, and employee development plans.

  • Identify training and development needs and provide leadership in the design and delivery of training programs.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the organization.

4. Compensation and Benefits:

  • Design and implement competitive compensation and benefits programs that align with industry standards and support employee retention and motivation.

  • Conduct regular salary surveys and benchmark studies to ensure the company’s compensation structure remains competitive.

  • Oversee payroll administration and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

5. Employee Relations and Compliance:

  • Promote a positive work environment by addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and ensuring that company policies are fair and consistently applied.

  • Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations, including labor relations, health and safety, and anti-discrimination laws.

  • Serve as a key point of contact for legal issues related to employment and work closely with legal counsel as needed.

6. Administration and Facilities Management:

  • Oversee the management of administrative services, including office management, facilities maintenance, and procurement of office supplies.

  • Ensure that the company’s physical work environment is safe, efficient, and conducive to productivity.

  • Manage relationships with external service providers, including facility management, security, and other administrative services.

7. HR Information Systems (HRIS):

  • Oversee the implementation and management of HRIS to streamline HR processes, improve data accuracy, and provide timely HR metrics and reports.

  • Ensure that HR data is securely managed and that the HRIS system supports the company’s HR and administrative needs.

8. Leadership and Team Management:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the HR and Administration team, ensuring that they are motivated, engaged, and aligned with the company’s goals.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and innovation.

  • Develop and mentor HR and administrative staff, providing opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.

Job Requirements

A. Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration (MBA), or Organizational Development is preferred.

  • Professional HR certifications are highly desirable.

B. Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Extensive experience in strategic HR management, talent acquisition, employee relations, and compensation and benefits.

  • Experience in the manufacturing, distribution, or construction materials industry is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Competence:

Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.

  • Strong understanding of organizational development, change management, and talent management principles.

  • Knowledge of HRIS and other HR-related technologies.

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective HR strategies.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees at all levels.

  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical practices and confidentiality.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive change initiatives within an organization.
