Job Description

The primary role of the Data Entry Clerk is to ensure collection and data entry of high-quality MEAL information at the health center level with the supervision of MEAL officer and PHCU team leader. The Data Entry Clerk will handle inputting the health service data into the established tracking system such as IRHIS and DHIS2 and aiding the PHCU team leader in completing both internal and external reports.

Job Responsibilities

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Support health centre staff in M&E data collection using tools for planning, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning in line with Medical Teams policies and standards

  • Input weekly and monthly data collected by the case team leads into IRHIS and DHIS2

  • Ensure all necessary M&E tools such as registration books, tally sheet are in place

  • Monitor the completeness of registrations in all service areas

  • Ensure data quality through LQAS

  • Avail data for program staffs as needed for decision makings

  • Troubleshoot databases such as IRHIS and DHIS2

  • Monitor implementation of systems, processes and tools ensuring quality and consistency in M&E collection and reporting

  • Summarize data collected from surveys and other project activities

  • Precisely compile data to ensure that the collected data is correct and keeps the integrity of the project

  • Aid with beneficiary interviews, focus group discussions, patient satisfaction surveys and quality improvement projects as needed with the PHCU team leader

  • Aid in compiling health facility checking data into internal and external reports reflecting activity indicators to guide decision making, provide accountability to beneficiaries and stakeholders, share learning, and prove impact

Accountability:

  • Ensure data storage and systems for sharing are set up to protect confidentiality of personally finding beneficiary data and adhere to generally accepted principles for data protection.

  • Support safeguarding of program participants and personnel through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, and Child & Vulnerable Adult protection policies and sexual harassment policies

  • Contribute to the establishment of an effective complaints, accountability, and response mechanism to enhance feedback, trust and confidence with beneficiaries

Learning:

  • Support health centre staffs in producing success stories

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Collaborates with Medical Teams staff in health facility and Jigjiga field office for data sharing, reporting, and quality improvement

Job Requirements

Education, licenses, & certification

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in health informatics, IT, Statistics, Social Work or other related fields

Experience

  • 3+ years or 1+ years professional experience for Diploma and Bachelor, respectively. Experience in humanitarian work and health care industry is preferred.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Knowledge of development & humanitarian issues and concepts

  • Fluent spoken and written Amharic and English.

  • Strong interpersonal and team skills 

  • Proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations

  • Excellent communicator

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment

  • Attention to detail

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Computer literate, able to work efficiently in Microsoft office on standard or mobile platforms.

  • Ability in Microsoft Excel needed.
