Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) is a civil society Organization, non-political, non-religious and not-for-profit National NGO working in areas of sustainable natural resources management (with focus on Wetland, Agro-ecology, Forest, etc), livelihoods improvement and WASH with the aim to achieve the dual goals of environment and development in Ethiopia. 

EWNRA is looking to recruit an Accountant to fill the vacant position within the Head Office based in Addis Ababa. Therefore, interested and qualified candidates fulfilling the requirements of the job, as described below, are invited to apply for the post. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of and reporting to EWNRA Finance and Administrative Director the Accountant s/he will have the following duties and responsibilities:

• The Accountant s/he is expected to check the bills: verify the amounts, the periods and analyze the documents, to manage and follow up repayments of advances, loans etc. Maintain the daily books of accounts in the cashbooks, collects and prepares/ review bank reconciliation statement. Prepare monthly cash flow, keep financial documents in a safe place, follow up record and maintain fixed assets register. Prepare payroll and ensure monthly payment to the staff, monitor and evaluate financial utilization of projects, review all payment against the budget and ensure the impress petty cash system and ensure for proper management. As deemed necessary travel to EWNRA project offices for providing back up support and monitor.

Job Requirements

• BA or Diploma in accounting/Finance or related fields from recognized University or College with a minimum of 2 years and four years’ experience respectively, with excellent academic records.

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of working on Sage 50 software and acutance with IPSAS

• Competency in computer applications of MS Offices packages is required.

• Fluency in understanding, writing and speaking English language is mandatory.

• Cooperative, team player, gender sensitive and excellent in interpersonal relationships.

• Have a strong commitment and openness to learn and share.
