 (IHSS) Coordinator Position

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) is responsible for the implementation of the Integrated Health System Strengthening Project of AMREF to be implemented in Amhara, Oromia, Afar, Sidama, and Somalia in three selected woredas from each regional state. 

To strengthen the IHSS and expand its successful implementation, EPHA is thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity to join our organization as a National IHSS Coordinator. 

The position can only be filed once the required funding has been approved and secured. 

Job Purpose / Position Overview:

The National Integrated Health Systems Strengthening Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the implementation of integrated health systems strengthening initiatives at the national level. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, excellent project management abilities, and a deep understanding of health systems strengthening.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for strengthening integrated health systems in alignment with national healthcare goals and priorities.

• Coordination: Facilitate collaboration and coordination between various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and healthcare facilities, to ensure a cohesive approach to health systems strengthening.

• Capacity Building: Identify training needs and develop capacity-building programs for healthcare professionals to enhance their skills in health systems strengthening.

• Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the progress of health systems strengthening initiatives and assess their impact on healthcare delivery.

• Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies that promote integrated health systems strengthening and support the equitable distribution of healthcare resources.

• Resource Mobilization: Identify funding opportunities and work towards securing resources to support health systems strengthening activities.

• Reporting: Prepare regular reports on the status of health systems strengthening initiatives and communicate key achievements and challenges to stakeholders

Salary:                   Based on the Salary Scale of EPHA

Duration:               One year with possible extension of the contract depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Management, Health Management Information Systems, or Monitoring and Evaluation (health system) 

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in health systems strengthening and program management.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret health data effectively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated experience in working with diverse stakeholders in the healthcare sector.

• Good Governance Index Training – Advantageous 

• Public Health Emergency Management Training – Mandatory 

• Leadership, Management, and Governance Training – Mandatory 

• Human Resource Management (HRM) and I-HRIS training - Advantageous
