The purpose of the USAID/Ethiopia Feed The Future Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture Activity is to increase access to healthy diets, particularly for women and children, by improving competitiveness, inclusiveness, and resilience of the Ethiopian food and agriculture system. It will also increase incomes gained from agriculture by as much as 40 percent over the next five years. To achieve its goals it must collaborate intensively with other USAID-funded projects working in the food and agriculture sector.
The Driver is responsible for transporting assigned staff members to their destinations in a safe and timely manner in addition to taking on other supportive roles that will require you to drive. Moreover, the driver is responsible for the safe arrival of any cargo or item placed in their vehicle. He/She will also be responsible for the vehicle that is assigned for them: for the regular preventative maintenance, maintain cleanliness to ensure it performs as it should. The driver should also adhere to the local and company regulations that ensure safe driving.
Driving in a safe and proper manner; acknowledging that safety is a priority.
Discuss with the assigned passenger to map out the favorable route to reach the destination to avoid misunderstandings and manage time properly.
Working with the logistics coordinator to manage trips and vehicles schedules.
Carryout errands of delivering documents, and people and perform procurement if necessary.
Carry out vehicle maintenance including regular checkups of tires, oil levels and filters etc.
Maintain the cleanliness of vehicles assigned both internal and external.
Maintain proper vehicle logs.
Ensure compliance with all USAID, RTI and First Consult, project, and local regulations.
Report any accidents, injuries or damage to management within three business days.
Ensuring the safety of passengers and goods onboard throughout the journey
Ensure that vehicle servicing is done within two weeks once the 5000km mark is reached.
Ensure task fulfilment with full care to preserve the confidentiality of matters related to Finance and Operations.
Perform vehicle checks before and after trips to ensure that all the necessary kits are available inside the vehicle.

Perform any other duties as requested by the respective supervisor.
REPORTING LINE
The Driver - Hawassa directly reports to the Operations Manager - Hawassa.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A valid driving license for an Automobile.
At least 2 years prior experience working on USAID funded projects is mandatory.
Completion of Secondary school/Diploma is preferable.
Ability to follow safety signs and follow state-regulated laws of the road.
Above five years of experience in the field.
Ability to speak in basic English and local language to the respective region is mandatory.
