Job Overview
Under the supervision of the Director Programs, the Grant Finance Manager at humedica collaborates with the proposal development strategist to contribute to overall business development and grants management. The Grant Finance Manager is responsible for high-quality budget proposal development (including budget narratives), budgeting for realignment/modification, donor compliance, communication, and information management, and staff capacity building. This position is based in Addis Ababa with occasional trips to national and international project sites. The Grant Finance Manager will work collaboratively with all members of the finance team, program team, and humedica partner organizations, as well as with field coordinators, operations team, and field and country office finance teams.
Budget Development and Management:
Lead and coordinate high quality budget development of new proposal budgets and budget modifications and realignments and ensure proper reviews according to humedica and donor guidelines to make budgets error-free.

Act as a focal point with donors in the country for the budgeting process.

Carry out ad-hoc data research and analysis, as needed.
Research donor compliance issues for new opportunities or existing grants.
Update relevant trackers regularly; Active Grants and Pipeline Tracker (weekly), Burn Rate Tracker (monthly)
Provide on-the-job training on grant management to Grant manager, finance team, operations team and Partners on advanced Excel, budgeting, and basic accounting principles, as needed. Topics may include donor compliance rules and regulations, budget development.
Build budgeting tools and templates for program teams and establish standardized budgeting processes.
Donor Compliance and Reporting:
Research donor compliance issues for new opportunities or existing grants.
Update relevant trackers regularly (e.g., Active Grants and Pipeline Tracker, Burn Rate Tracker).
Prepare and review donor financial reports in conjunction with program managers and finance officers.
Ensure compliance with donor regulations and humedica's internal policies.
Financial Monitoring and Analysis:
Perform monthly budget vs. actual (BVA) analysis for assigned grants.
Monitor the monthly Commitment Tracking sheet and update the status.
Conduct ad-hoc data research and analysis as needed.
Provide on-the-job training to finance team and Partners on advanced Excel, budgeting, and basic accounting principles.
Organize periodic refresher training for existing staff on donor compliance matters and humedica's internal policies.
Lead project-specific audit work and assist Country finance manager in similar tasks.
Make periodic field visits to ensure donor and internal policies are implemented to adequate standards.
Support and follow up on the implementation of internal audit recommendations.

Qualifications:
Knowledge and Experience
BA/MA/PHD degree in finance and accounting, or a related area of study with a minimum of 12 years of related work experience for BA holder, 10 year experience for MA or 8 years’ experience for PHD holder in donor funded grants (GFFO, BMZ, USAID, EHF, ECHO), compliance, or related roles, preferably within an INGO or nonprofit environment, and Three years at the managerial level.
From the total experience at least 5 years in managerial level.
CPA (Certified Public Accountant), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or equivalent is preferred.
Demonstrated competency with computerized general ledger software.
Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly in Excel.
Prior management experience and strong organizational skills.
Prior internal/external audit experience or compliance audit will be a plus.
Excellent oral and written English skills.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary
Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and appropriate flexibility.
Emotional maturity and physical stamina.
Demonstrated experience in managing Matrix Reporting is needed
Willing to travel to humedica field offices and project sites (50%+ of time.)
