Job Description

The PR and Communication Officer is responsible for managing the company's public image and communications efforts, both internally and externally. This role involves developing and implementing public relations strategies, managing media relations, crafting compelling content, and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms. The PR and Communication Officer works closely with various departments to enhance the company's reputation, engage stakeholders, and promote key messages to target audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Public Relations Strategy:

    1. Develop and execute comprehensive PR strategies to enhance the company's brand image and reputation.

    2. Identify and leverage media opportunities to promote the company's products, services, and initiatives.

    3. Create and maintain a positive public image by addressing potential issues and managing crises effectively.

    4. Collaborate with senior management to align PR strategies with the company’s overall objectives.

  2. Media Relations:

    1. Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.

    2. Prepare and distribute press releases, media kits, and other communications materials to media contacts.

    3. Organize and coordinate press conferences, media briefings, and interviews.

    4. Monitor media coverage and respond to media inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

  3. Content Creation and Management:

    1. Develop high-quality, engaging content for press releases, articles, blogs, newsletters, and social media posts.

    2. Oversee the creation of multimedia content (videos, infographics, etc.) to support PR campaigns.

    3. Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.

    4. Manage the company’s website and social media platforms, ensuring regular updates and audience engagement.

  4. Internal Communications:

    1. Develop and implement internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged.

    2. Create and distribute internal newsletters, memos, and announcements.

    3. Organize internal events and activities to promote company culture and employee morale.

    4. Serve as a communication liaison between management and staff, fostering open and transparent communication.

  5. Stakeholder Engagement:

    1. Identify key stakeholders (customers, investors, partners, etc.) and develop tailored communication strategies to engage them.

    2. Coordinate and manage events, such as conferences, product launches, and community outreach programs, to engage stakeholders.

    3. Collect and analyze feedback from stakeholders to improve communication strategies and address concerns.

  6. Crisis Communication:

    1. Develop and implement crisis communication plans to protect the company’s reputation in times of crisis.

    2. Serve as the primary point of contact for media and stakeholders during crises.

    3. Prepare crisis communication materials, including statements, FAQs, and talking points.

    4. Monitor the situation closely and adjust communication strategies as needed to manage the crisis effectively.

  7. Reputation Management:

    1. Monitor public perception of the company and its brand across various media and social platforms.

    2. Address negative publicity or misinformation through proactive communication and engagement.

    3. Conduct regular assessments of the company’s reputation and suggest improvements to enhance public perception.

    4. Engage in online reputation management activities, including responding to customer reviews and comments.

  8. Market and Industry Research:

    1. Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities that may impact the company.

    2. Conduct research to identify potential PR opportunities and threats.

    3. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on research findings.

  • Track and report on key PR metrics, such as media coverage, social media engagement, and stakeholder sentiment.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

  • A Master’s degree or professional certification in Public Relations 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Journalism market research, business analysis, or strategic planning.

  • Proven experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research.

  • Experience with data analysis tools and market research software Google Analytics).
