Job Description

Dan Church Aid (DCA) is a Denmark-based international NGO registered under certificate # 1083 by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations and working to improve the wellbeing of particularly the rural and pre-urban people in Ethiopia. DCA’s Programme mainly focus on save live, building resilience and fighting inequality targeting highly disaster-prone areas in Oromia, Amhara, Afar, and Gambella regions.

Currently, the DCA Ethiopia Office is looking for a competent Explosive Ordnance Risk Education Technical Lead.

Position Objective

The overall responsibility of the post is under the supervision of the Head of Program, we will provide technical guidance and monitor the implementation of the DCA Dan Church Aid Ethiopia Explosive Ordnance Risk Education project implemented in the Afar region.

Purpose

The EORE technical position purpose is to coordinate and facilitate the implementation of EORE activities and to manage the DCA EORE operational teams.

Engagement

  • Ensure that the EORE teams have the necessary materials and equipment to carry out their designated activities.

  • Conduct training for EORE facilitators, community agents /animators, NGO workers, central people in the communities etc. As required / requested.

  • Conduct refresher training for EORE facilitators and ensure the skills of the EORE facilitators are according to relevant standards.

  • Take the technical lead in the preparation of new proposal in close collaboration with HQ HRM lead and DCA Ethiopia business development team.

  • Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of EORE activities.

Delivery

  • Implement and maintain appropriate Quality Management systems to ensure quality of EORE delivery.

  • Maintain good communication with partner organizations.

  • Maintain good relationships with other mine action interventions in the area including those involved in survey, marking and clearance to ensure good coordination and shared knowledge.

  • Manage funds as required.

  • Ensure timely reporting to the UNMAS, EMAO and other relevant stakeholders and interlocutors.

  • Conduct regular project technical visit and provide technical support for frontline staff for effective implementation of projects in accordance with DIP

Job Requirements

  • A university degree preferably in sociology/social sciences/teaching

  • Demonstrable prior minimum 5years experience working in EORE design / implementation / delivery, ideally at a management level

  • Knowledge of Victim Assistance and Protection pathways / mechanisms

  • Experience from working with teaching/education/social work

  • Fluency in Amharic, English and knowledge of other local language has added value

  • Prior experience from working with INGO and NGO.
