Job Description

This position will work professionally towards the implementation of food security and livelihood activities planned for IDPs and host community project intervention sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare work plan and coordinate implementation of food security and livelihood activities planned for the IDPs and host community interventions together with responsible woreda officials & IDP camp community structures.

  • Ensure that the Food Security and Livelihood activities are implemented according to the approved and signed donor, government, and other partners’ agreements & plans.

  • Develop plans to incorporate the livelihoods activities (such as crop and livestock, IGAs) related activities during the planning and implementation of the project activities.

  • Prepare and develop overall planned activities necessary implementation modality and approaches, such as DIP, term of reference/TORs/ MOUs, by-laws, PR., etc.

  • Facilitates & organizes all training, workshop, and experience visits planned in the host community and IDP camp project interventions.

  • Plan, implement, monitor, and review the overall FSL project activities in the host community and IDP camp interventions.

  • Support in carrying out baseline assessment together with concerned partners and project staff related to food security and livelihood activities and incorporate in the project implementation plan (monthly, quarterly annual and DIP, etc).

  • Work on the agricultural activities (seed distribution, livestock distribution, fertilizer distribution, and other agricultural activities are managed in quality and quantity.

  • Make sure all the post-harvest losses of the farmers are reduced by providing different trainings and experience sharing.

  • Provide technical support and work closely with concerned woreda government and IDP camp partners.

  • Prepare and maintain project activity records, documents, and control plans for the monitoring of project/ program implementation including preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual implementation works plans together with the FSL project coordinator and M&E units.

  • Supervise and regularly monitor the implementation of the project FSL activities in the project implementation areas by keeping the organization procedures and mechanisms for deployment of material to beneficiaries.

  • Work closely with regional, woreda, community, and refugee camp FSL partners to improve food security and livelihood of project beneficiaries.

  • Provide technical advice, training, and information to government partners to ensure project FSL  activities are carried out in a timely manner.

  • Ensure technical quality and accuracy of planned project FSL activities implementation in the host community and refugee camps interventions.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, interim/annual/ and final project FSL activities reports and submit them to the supervisor and M&E units.

  • Build and maintain ZOA strong partnership at all levels in time of project implementation, meetings, workshops, visits, training, etc. for the sake of smooth project activities implementation.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification and Experience

A Degree in Agriculture, Crop production/livestock, Business management, Agricultural Economics, Economics Food security and Nutrition, Social Sciences, Rural development and other strongly related fields

Minimum of  3 years’ relevant professional experience

Experience working with INGO will be an advantage.

Experience on agriculture related intervention with the context of refugee, IDP and hosting community

Skills Specific to the Post

Commitment to the vision and mission of ZOA from relief to recovery

Excellent understanding of local context preferred

Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members in a cross-cultural environment

Ability to work in hardship conditions

Excellent in all skill of English

Ability to speak local language is advantageous
