Engineering Supervisor

Reports to: Hardware Manager

Purpose of the Position

The EM for Dodai will be part of the middle management team and will be responsible to oversee the overall testing process of electric two wheelers (E2W) as well as factory/vehicle maintenance strategy to ensure customer satisfaction as Dodai expands and grows.

S/he is expected to initiate and lead product testing, based on current and projected product lineups. S/he will also be responsible for creating, implementing and digitizing maintenance frameworks. Besides, S/he will ensure visibility and understanding of testing objectives and outcomes across our rapidly expanding logistics, sales, after sales and business development sections. This is in addition to directing and developing the skills of our engineer(s) in daily testing and maintenance efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize, schedule and coordinate repair and maintenance of customer’s e-motorbikes

• Execute repair work on customers' e-motorbikes when required.

• Analyze repair data and provide reports on customer repair and maintenance needs.

• Ensure an adequate supply of spare parts for our customers’ needs.

• Organize, schedule and coordinate testing activities 24/7.

• Execute testing activities on our test vehicles when required.

• Hire & train testing & maintenance team employees to ensure a competent, agile and motivated workforce.

• Build our testing equipment capability to provide high quality engineering data and analysis.

• Implement testing & maintenance protocol in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

• Closely coordinate with the Manufacturing Manager in arranging & executing factory equipment maintenance activities.

• Ensure a coordinated testing and maintenance team that is agile & adaptable to the ebb and flow of logistics, sales and business development.

• Enforce and execute proper record keeping for testing, repairs, maintenance, spare parts and technical improvements.

• Lead efforts to investigate, document and resolve the most difficult technical problems in our products and equipment.

• Lead technical improvement schemes for our products.

• Review personnel performance to determine individuals most suited for promotion.

• Lead and coordinate emergency responses related to the testing area (accident, fire, natural disaster, unscheduled inspection from authorities etc.)

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or closely related fields

• Minimum of 4 years working in the automotive industry

• Minimum of 2 years experience managing a vehicle repair team

• Sound knowledge of vehicle dynamics and engineering

• Sound knowledge of motorcycle performance, comfort and durability factors

• Experience in executing test protocols, testing strategies, equipment and schedules.

• Willing to work in a fast paced & challenging environment.

• Knowledge of CAD software like Solidwork is a plus.

• Knowledge of scientific programming tools like MATLAB is a major plus.

• Ability to communicate in Chinese is a plus.

• Having a valid motorbike license to ride in Addis Ababa is a plus.

• Sound knowledge of electrical tools, pneumatic tools and data acquisition systems.

• Experience with lithium ion batteries is a plus.

• Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
