We are looking for
Local Language Translators for Amharic, Afan Oromo, Somali, Tigrigna, Sidamigna, Gamo, Gofa, Guragigna, Siltigna, Afarigna, Wolaytigna, Gedio, and Hadiya, languages to support the research and social behavior change communication development operation for different programs of PSI Ethiopia. We are seeking skilled Translators to accurately interpret written material in various local languages to English while preserving their original meaning, format, and tone. The list of local languages corresponds to the operation locations of PSI Ethiopia, currently.
As a Translator, your responsibilities will include carefully reading and comprehending the context of the given material, utilizing specialized dictionaries and translation tools, and meticulously proofreading the final translations. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail and fluency in local language as well as English. The candidate is expected to deliver high-quality translated content that aligns with PSI Ethiopia’s Research and Evidence requirements and enables us to effectively engage a selected set of audience. Read given material and research industry-specific terminology
Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone
Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations
Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation
Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
Follow up with PSI Ethiopia’s team members to ensure translation meets their needs
Proactively cooperate for payment facilitation and deliverable clearance.
A BA degree from a recognized university in Social sciences, humanities, or other general disciplines with at least 2 years of work experience
Fluency in any of the local languages like Amharic, Afan Oromo, Somali, Tigrigna, Sidamigna, Gamo, Gofa, Guragigna, Siltigna, Afarigna, Wolaytigna, Gedio, and Hadiya
Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors for local languages
Writing skills in each of2 the local languages
