Job Description

HST Consulting is looking for experienced, energetic, and committed professional for the post of Internal Controller to be assigned to the office of one of its high-profile clients: Akobo Minerals AB and Etno Mining Plc. HST has been engaged by Akobo Minerals AB and Etno Mining Plc to undertake the recruitment of Internal Controller and subsequent employment contract administration of the job holder.

The Internal Controller is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of financial operations and adherence to internal procedures within Akobo Minerals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement internal control frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  • Oversee and monitor procurement processes, documentation, quotations, signoffs, and approvals to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of financial transactions, operational activities, and internal controls and collaborate with process owners to address control deficiencies and implement corrective actions. 

  • Support accurate and timely monthly financial close, including preparation of financial statements and management reports.

  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Manager in Norway and with the local finance team to implement corrective actions and improvements.

  • Independently assess the effectiveness of internal controls and propose enhancements where necessary.

  • Investigate irregularities and non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions to the Finance Manager.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing audit findings and recommendations for management review.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders to foster a culture of compliance and accountability.

  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

  • Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders during audits and inspections.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Job Requirements

Required Education, Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting & finance, related fields; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIA) preferred. 

  • Proven experience in internal auditing, internal controls, or a similar role for at least five years. 

  • Strong understanding of financial processes, internal controls, and risk management principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct audits, analyze complex data, and communicate findings effectively.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multinational environment.

  • High level of integrity, ethical standards, and ability to handle confidential information.
