The Opportunity:

This position is responsible for assessment, response analysis, design and implementation of the education components of integrated project emergency response. S/he will need to co-ordinate with other Emergency Response team members and Plan staff, especially Implementation Management, protection and other relevant technical sectors, to ensure a rapid, proportionate and effective response. S/he will need to ensure response to immediate child education issues with simultaneous consideration of longer term needs and possible scenarios. The officer may be expected to take a very active role in technical co-ordination, support and advocacy with the country specific education Clusters and other stakeholders and technical agencies relevant to the sector

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

• Understand and put into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC).

• Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.

• Ensure that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/ Experience essential:

• B.E. degree in Education, pedagogy, Early childhood care and education (ECCE), Psychology and related field of studies

• 3-5 years of relevant work experience, involving both in emergency and development programs

• Experience with the following technical areas:  

• Mobilizing community and training to the ECCE facilitators and school teachers

• Knowledge and experience of the education and support of the pre-school children
