Job Description
With develoPPP, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) promotes private-sector activities where entrepreneurial opportunities and development policy potential meet. Companies that want to invest sustainably in a developing and emerging country and expand their local operations can receive financial and technical support under the programme.
GIZ partners with Sebeta Agroindustry PLC in order to improve livelihoods of actors among the Ethiopian dairy value chain. The project aims to establish and capacitate six dairy cooperatives with milk collection centers (MCC) in the Oromia region (Kuyu, Alidoro, Digme, Debre Tsige, Assela and Bishoftu). It places a strong emphasis on empowering smallholder farmers through training programs for improved milk production, farm management, and organic fertilizer production from cow manure trough vermicomposting. Promoting sustainable agricultural practices through training in integrated soil fertility management (ISFM) with a focus on vermicomposting manure for fodder production This community-centered approach places rural stakeholders at the heart of the supply chain, promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, the project anticipates creating urban employment opportunities for women and youth in dairy sales and distribution.
