Job Description
The Ethiopian public health institute is seeking to hire a data manager to oversee and enhance the management of data associated with laboratory external quality assessment (EQA) programs. The EQA programs are critical to ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of laboratory testing and results.
Objectives The primary objectives of the EQA data manager role are to:
Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of EQA data.
Manage the collection, storage, and analysis of data related to EQA activities.
Provide insightful reports and analyses to support the organization’s quality assurance goals.
Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of EQA data management processes.
Scope of Work The EQA data manager will be responsible for the following tasks:
Data Management: Oversee the collection, entry, and maintenance of EQA data in the designated databases or systems.
Data Analysis: Perform statistical analysis and data interpretation to support quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
Reporting: Develop and generate regular and ad-hoc reports on EQA data for stakeholders.
Compliance: Ensure data management practices comply with relevant regulations, standards, and policies.
System Maintenance: Manage and troubleshoot data management systems, including software and hardware components.
Training: Provide training and support to staff on data management procedures and systems.
Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation related to data management processes and procedures.
Data Integrity: Monitor data entry processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Data Security: Implement and maintain measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches.
Quality Control: Develop and execute quality control procedures to verify the reliability of data.
Collaboration: Work closely with regional health bureaus/ regional laboratories, other divisions and external partners to strengthen EQA activities.
Problem Solving: Address and resolve data-related issues promptly and effectively.
Innovation: Identify and recommend improvements to data management practices and systems.
Duration and salary
Contract Duration: one-year contract with a possibility of extension
Salary: Based on Minister of Finance scale
Required Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatics, Health Information Management, or a related field. Having a medical Laboratory background is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in data management, preferably within a healthcare or laboratory setting.
Skills:
Proficiency in data management software and tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge: Understanding of laboratory EQA programs and quality assurance processes is advantageous.
Reporting and Supervision: The data manager will report directly to the EQA division head, and will work closely with the team under laboratory capacity building directorate to ensure alignment with directorate goals.
