Job Description

Assist the Weighbridge Operations Manager in the overall management of the weighbridge activities to include planning / scheduling of key operations / activities. Ensure compliance to all contractual obligations including reporting to GS Co Ltd.  Supervision ofall other staff and ensure optimaloperations at the station over his shift

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • At all times, comply with organizations Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct

  • Assist the Weighbridge Manager formulate improvement performance strategy.

  • Ensure Implementation of operational / activity schedules.

  • Ensure reports are compiled and transmitted as per schedule – daily, weekly and any other time as may be required / directed.

  • Prepare and maintain duty rosters for contract staff.

  • Ensure targets for weighing compliance are achieved

  • Undertake regular training / briefing of regular staff on their tasks.

  • Maintain a log of all occurrences and brief the weighbridge Manager on the same.

  • Attend court cases as and when required.

  • Keep records of all law enforcement activities at the weighbridge.

  • Receive copies of daily prosecutions.

  • Contact wrongdoers and remind them of Payment of fines.

  • Monitor payments with local magistrate’s office.

  • Monitor payment with local traffic office.

  • Prepare reports on the status of fines.

  • Assist the Manager develop a Quality Assurance Program of the weighbridge.

  • Enhance proper communication skills to create a conducive working environment

  • Ensure that training in areas that staff are not conversant while performing duties is maintained.

  • Ensure that the right PPE for the task have been assigned.

  • Ensure that the PPE issued are not misused and communicate early enough when they are worn out for replacement.

  • Responsible to exercise work practices that promote health and safety at work.

  • Report any accident/Incidence that may occur at the workplace.

  • Promote healthy industrial relations by familiarizing staff with the grievance handling procedure and the disciplinary procedures

  • Ensure high standards of both attendance and punctuality at work

  • Ensure availability of staff at all operational time. 

  • Report early enough any reasons that may lead absenteeism on duty and seek the necessary permission in accordance with the laid down procedure.

  • Ensure working area is clean and tidy (clean-as-you-go policy)

  • Report any unusual or unacceptable observation regarding product or process

  • Communications and working relationships with external contacts such as Traffic Police, Local court, and Client Representative as well as internal contacts, Weighbridge Manager Operations Manager, and Support personnel

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • The staff proposed for the position of Assistant Operations Manager shall possess a University Degree (BSc or BA) from a recognized University with a total service year of 5 or more. 

  • She/he shall demonstrate competence and a minimum of (2) years proven experience in Business Administration, and wide experience with Public or Private Sector and administration/management of a technical facility/project in a similar capacity.

  • He/she shall have training in ICT or project performance monitoring and evaluation and have adequate experience in the use of computer applications. 

  • He should be a team player with wide experience with Public or Private Sector and administration / management of a technical facility / project in a similar capacity.

  • The Assistant Operations Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager to formulate ways of monitoring all active sites and shall be required to be in the field frequently with company based and or / in collaboration with the client to monitor operational, Management of the Virtual Weighbridge Stations in-order to review and propose new approaches of addressing emerging challenges.
