Job Description

CEFA (European Committee for Training and Agriculture) is a Non-Government Organization whose headquarter is in Bologna, Italy (www.cefaonlus.it). CEFA mainly works in the following activities: 1) Rural economy with production, transformation and commercialization of agricultural products; 2) Crafting products; 3) Basic infrastructures to guarantee water access, requalification and environment protection of the territory and the use of renewable energies; 4) Technical Management agricultural training and agricultural input provision

In Ethiopia CEFA is registered since April 2018. Our main mission in Ethiopia is to ensure economic empowerment for women and youth living in rural areas and to offer sustainable opportunities for farmers.

Name of the project: Strengthening humanitarian response in Ethiopia” AID 12882

The project initiative aims to contribute, through multi-sectorial and inclusive approach focused on the promotion of WASH and livelihood activities in order to help people improving their living conditions while creating the foundations for their future development.

The project will be implemented in consortia with other international and local NGOs. 

CEFA is looking for three (3) motivated community animators to support small scale most vulnerable farmers/families so as to improve the foundation of their future development. The community animators will work under the supervision of the project coordinator.

Role and Responsibilities

All the following tasks will be carried out in collaboration and under the supervision and responsibility of the project coordinator.

  • Coordination and close collaboration with the area coordinator/Agronomist; 

  • Participation in periodic meetings with the project team; 

  • Assistance and technical support to project beneficiaries; 

  • Ensure the proper beneficiary selection as per the criteria together with the other partners 

  • Supporting the project beneficiaries with a daily proximity support, with constant monitoring of the activities and the learning of the concepts transmitted during the training sessions, with ready problem solving interventions. 

  • Awareness creation for farmers on improved agronomic techniques; 

  • Monitoring and logistics of the workshops and seminars organized within the project, for the areas of competence; 

  • Collection of documentation and information (report, attendance list, photo, material, etc.);

  • Writing activity reports; 

  • Manage relations with local stakeholders, in particular with the relevant authorities with the selection and support of the beneficiaries; 

  • Any other activity necessary for carrying out the project activities as indicated by the project coordinator.

Career Level: Advanced (+ 5 years’ experience) 

Employment Type: Full time (one year with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of fund)

Salary: To be defined according to the candidate's experience and profile and organization salary range

Job Requirements

Education Requirement:

Master’s Degree in agriculture or rural development.

At least 5 years of experience in field activities in agriculture development projects (Emergency project experience a preference).

Required Competencies: 

  • Fluency in local language of the Zone. Good knowledge of oral and written Amharic and English; 

  • Proven team work experience; 

  • Excellent knowledge of the geographical context of reference; 

  • Good ability to use the Office package and Internet/mail; 

  • Preferably prior work experience with other NGOs (Emergency project is preferable);

  • Motorbike driving technical skill and motorbike driving license; 

  • Willing and ability to work under pressure and in difficult and isolated contexts.
