Job Description
The Peacebuilding Officer is responsible for promoting peace, preventing conflict, and fostering co-existence in the project area. This role involves engaging with local communities, authorities, and CSOs to build capacity, facilitate dialogue, and support the implementation of peacebuilding initiatives. The Peacebuilding Officer will work closely with local communities, partner organizations, and project stakeholders to ensure projects are completed successfully and contribute to the organization’s mission of fighting poverty and injustice.
Conduct community mobilization, sensitization, and education on peace building, prevention of conflict, co-existence, and related issues.
Organize and facilitate dialogue sessions involving community representatives, authorities, and CSOs in the target areas.
Support and facilitate meetings, networks, coalitions, and other community-based activities.
Provide, facilitate, and support training to communities and partners on peace building, conflict prevention, dialogue, and agenda setting.
Support in the development of guidelines, manuals, and other training materials on relevant topics.
Support and participate in assessments, researches, campaigns, and events.
Network and liaise the project with other relevant actors.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements, in alignment with ActionAid’s program strategies and donor requirements.
Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and provide regular status updates to project stakeholders.
Collect and analyze project data and prepare progress reports and evaluations.
Document project activities, lessons learned, and best practices to inform future programming.
Perform other related duties as required.
BA or MA degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, or related fields.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience with MA or 5 years of experience with BA.
Proven experience in community mobilization, sensitization, and education on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and co-existence.
Strong understanding of peacebuilding principles, conflict analysis, and conflict resolution strategies.
Proven experience in facilitating dialogue sessions, meetings, networks, and community-based activities.
Experience in developing and delivering trainings on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, dialogue, and agenda setting.
Experience in developing guidance, manuals, and other training materials.
Experience in conducting assessments, researches, campaigns, and events.
Strong networking and liaison skills with relevant actors.
Proven experience of work under pressure and in fragile contexts.
Adherence to AAE’s Safety and Safeguarding policies
Have full working knowledge of English and local languages.
