Job Description

The Quality Control head is responsible for leading the team in the quality department to make sure all Process and finished products are tested and released as per the Physico-chemical, Microbiological and sensory sampling plan. 

He/She is also responsible for planning and maintaining a regular external and inhouse calibration of laboratory equipment and in-line system of measurement. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provides day to day management and supervision of the quality laboratory staff and acts in a supervisory role to all staff performing Quality Control tests (WWTP lab, Brewhouse and Fermentation). 

  • Oversees all quality checks, including yeast management, microbiological control, chemical and analytical tests, and packaged beer quality checks.

  • Prepare a calibration procedure and plan. Facilitate external and internal calibration as per the plan and retain proper documentation. 

  • Plan and make sure 3rd party lab tests are performed and retain proper documentation. 

  • Manages a sensory panel, including setting up tastings, maintaining inventory, and performing ongoing training sessions. 

  • Ensure that service level agreements relating to quality are met: They will monitor the quality of the components used within the brewing process and Packaging to ensure they meet the quality standards that have been agreed to.

  • Report on time data trends to the Quality Assurance Manager for early communication to responsible departments and early mitigation of quality related issues. 

  • Troubleshoots ongoing issues and identifies root causes and areas in need of improvement.

  • Creates research and development projects and experiments in order to support long term quality improvements.

  • Addressing customer complaints related to product quality.

  • Develops or updates new sampling plans, action plans, and SOPs as needed.

  • Make sure all Quality Control resources (Glass wares, chemicals and other consumables) are tracked and requested before the minimum stock. 

  • Closely work with IMS team leader for the effective implementation of IMS (FSMS, QMS, EMS and OHS).

  • Prepare and implement a daily communication platform for quality team. 

  • Work with Quality Assurance Manager to provide a proper training od sampling, operation and calibration of lab equipment, result interpretation, stock and asset management for quality team (Junior and senior analysts)

  • Provide proper PPE for team, Practice workplace safety and comply the company safety regulations. 

  • Lead the 5s project in order to make sure the workplace is organized and maintained. 

  • Provide consumption trend and inputs for Quality Assurance yearly budget plan. 

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Academic requirement:

  •  MSC/BSC in Chemistry/ Chemical engineering/Biology/Food Science or related fields

Work experience: 

  • 4/6 years of relevant experience in Brewery industry

Additional Competencies: 

  • Having a mindset of achieving excellence.

  • Experience of FSMS, QMS, EMS and Internal auditing is Preferable 

  • Supervisory level experience in a production brewery or food production facility with firsthand experience in developing new processes and managing culture.

  • A strong understanding of quality and laboratory equipment handling

  • A strong work ethic and hands-on approach

  • A strong problem-solving skill and teamwork.

  • Familiar with ERP/SAP systems.
