Job Description

Job title:  Research Administrator

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI reorganized by the decree of the Council of Minister’s Regulation No. 530/2023 with the objectives of conducting biomedical, clinical trial and bioequivalence research, promoting and strengthening local production of pharmaceutical products and research capacity building under the Federal Ministry of Health. AHRI, over its 50 years in service, is well known for its hub function for skill and technology transfer and partnership embracing research agendas with direct impact in the development and transformation of population in Ethiopia and beyond.

The Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases Research Directorate (CNCDRD) is one of the research directorates which works several researches on communicable and non-communicable diseases in collaborations with national and international partners and funders. Therefore, the Directorate is looking for self-driven, motivated, innovative and energetic Research Administrator to join our team. The Research Administrator will be mainly responsible administrating the day to day activities of the directorate, finance and logistics management, compiling reports and communicating with different research teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning & scheduling activities and resources of the directorate

  • Ensuring the directorate activities are run in compliance with the Organization’s requirements

  • Maintaining and integrating the directorate plans

  • Asses the divisions activities status and make course corrections or adjustments

  • Tracking & reporting overall directorate progress

  • Administering the directorate budget

  • Making sure that advance requests comply to work plan, that receipts are collected on time, samples are collected and transported to AHRI

  • Establishing and maintaining the directorate’s documentation library

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Excellent proficiency in English (writing and speaking)

  • Excellent Research and Communication Skills

  • Experience in writing scientific planning and reports and in using other research output dissemination mechanisms

  • Excellent ICT skill                         

  •  Good general work habits and strict adherence to deadlines

  • Committed to the values of integrity, accountability, transparency, and scientific rigor

  •  Basic understanding in health research ethics and in national and international laws related to   health research

Job Requirements:

Qualification: BSC/MSc in Public Health, Health informatics, Project management and six/four years work experience 

Duty station: Addis Ababa AHRI Head Office

Number required: 1 (One)

Terms of employment: one year contract period with full time employment basis with possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability

Salary: As per the scale of the institution
