Job Description
Women Empowerment-Action (WE-Action) is an indigenous non- political, non- religious, non-profit, humanitarian and development-oriented organization working in Ethiopia to the improvement of the social, economic, and physical well-being of the poor women in particular and the community in general. Currently the organization is operating in four regions SNNPR, Oromia,Tigry and Amhara National Regional States.
Currently, WE-Action is seeking to hire competent, qualified and interested candidate for Female applicants preferable.

The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Manager (GESI) Manager is responsible for mainstreaming of gender and social inclusion and proactive technical support to the gender and social inclusion work of the organization. Work very closely with all sections and partners to ensure that gender equity and social inclusion principles are incorporated across programs and organizational practices.
Program Managerial Responsibilities:
Participate and contribute to the Program management team meeting at different level.
Promote WE-Action image and experiences in the Gender and Social Inclusion.
Contribute for the partnership with funding partners and stakeholders to be smooth
Program Designing Responsibilities:
Design the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Emergency and Humanitarian and Development Programs.
Develop gender and social inclusion guideline for each project result framework.
Design and update a Gender Transformative Approaches and promote to be used by program operations.
Program Implementation
Lead the implementation of Ethiopian DRM project across regions providing technical support for regional GESI experts.
Plan and implement gender and social inclusion activities from each project.
Conduct gender analysis at the beginning and end of projects.
Implement the Gender Equality Policy implementation strategy and action plan.
Review project and programs for gender and social inclusion perspectives and provide comments and inputs for the program team.
Support the protection aspects in Emergency and Humanitarian Program.
Participate and contribute to humanitarian clusters under protection cluster
Implement standalone SGBV and Gender focused projects
Assist the regional GESI experts in implantation of Ethiopia DRM project activities.
Promote male engagement strategies and approaches
Advocacy and Capacity Building
Lead the designing of organization advocacy policy and strategies.
Promote feminist advocacy across programs and projects.
Identify and propose advocacy agenda on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion
Organize advocacy events at different level.
Publish and communicate advocacy materials.
Organize Gender Equality and Social Inclusion capacity building for all staff at different level.
Plan and implement female employee’s capacity development, mentorship and internship programs.
Monitoring and Reporting
Conduct monitoring of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion activity implementation.
Regularly monitor and report the implementation status of gender equality policy implementation strategy and action plan.
Lead organizational gender audit every five years and update the Gender Equality Policy Commitments.
Gender at Workplaces
Strictly follow and assist others to respect the organization polices on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion.
Ensure workplace is free from any sexual and gender-based violence.
Organize regular “women only” session
Organize organization conversation on gender and social inclusion issues.
Monitor the integration of gender provisions in each institutional policy document as appropriate and monitor the implementation of gender provisions in institutional policy
Safeguarding:
Able to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, and feel confident that they have been understood.
Understands local safeguarding structures and arrangements.
Practices in a manner that seeks to reduce the risk of abuse, harm or neglect.
Conduct routine risk assessments, monitor and report any issues related to Safeguarding.
Create awareness to community, target groups and peers on safeguarding during weekly, monthly, and quarterly dialogue sessions.
Participate in organizational conversations to discuss on cross cutting issues such as gender, HIV, safeguarding, social inclusion etc…
Identifies and refers to appropriate services any other associated persons including careers, family members and children at risk.
Able to document safeguarding concerns, and maintain appropriate record-keeping, recording the wishes and views of the adult or child at risk, differentiating between fact and opinion.
Gather feedback and complaints on any concerns of the project implementation and organization and formally document and report back to field offices with a confidential and secure manner.
Key skills and competency required
TheGender Equality and Social Inclusion Manager (GESI) Manager requires demonstrating the following competence:

Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, and monitor the progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities.
Plan: Determine strategies to move the organization forward, set goals, create and implement actions plans, and evaluate the process and results.
Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
Reporting Skills: Quality and timely report development, strong attention to detail and editing skills
Self- Management: Is self-directed, eager to meet and exceed objectives, and excited to take on more responsibility.
Gender Sensitive: Understands gender equality and demonstrate gender sensitive and responsive behaviors. Ability to manage culturally sensitive and differences and responding appropriately.

Reports to: Executive Directress
Salary: As per the organization salary scale

Experiences and educational preparation
MA/MSc/BA/BSc in Development Studies, Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Anthropology
4 years related work experience for MA/MSc and 6 years work experience for BA/BSc in similar fields
2 years experience in Gender and Social Inclusion Coordinator position in NGOs
Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience for MA in Gender Studies, Law, Human Right, Sociology, Development Studies, Social Work etc and other relevant social sciences fields and 8 to 10 years for BA in social sciences.
At least 2-year experience in GESI related position in Civil Society Sector
