Job Description

OWS Development Fund is seeking a qualified and dedicated GBV Officer to support the Bokh Protection Project. The project focuses on protecting and supporting individuals affected by gender-based violence in the Bokh district. This is a key position that will contribute to strengthening community-based protection mechanisms and ensuring survivors' access to essential services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of GBV prevention and response activities in the Bokh Protection Project.

  • Provide direct support to survivors of gender-based violence, including case management, referrals, and psychosocial support.

  • Work with local communities and stakeholders to raise awareness and promote behavioral change related to GBV.

  • Conduct training sessions for community members, partners, and staff on GBV prevention, protection, and response.

  • Collaborate with other humanitarian actors to ensure coordinated efforts in GBV prevention and response.

  • Monitor and report on the progress of GBV activities, ensuring timely and accurate data collection.

  • Support the development and dissemination of GBV-related materials, including IEC materials and awareness campaigns.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in social work, Gender Studies, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field.

  • At least 3 years of experience working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs), specifically in GBV prevention and response.

  • Experience in case management, survivor support services, and GBV program implementation.

  • Strong understanding of the context and challenges of GBV in the Somali Regional State.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with fluency in Somali and English.

  • Ability to work under pressure, in difficult conditions, and with limited resources.

  • Familiarity with international GBV guidelines and best practices.

  • Desirable:

  • Experience in working with community-based organizations and government authorities.

  • Knowledge of local languages and cultural sensitivities in the Bokh district.

Contract Terms: 

This is a full-time position for an initial period of three months, with the possibility of extension depending on project needs and funding availability.
