About This Role
The Project Field Coordinator is responsible for the overall organizing, directing management, and coordination of the activities across the project implementation locations. The position will closely work with concerned local implementing partners, government offices and the communities in selected Woredas. He/she is also responsible in compiling and timely submission of reports to the ECD Specialist.
Project Planning and implementation
Undertake project planning in participatory way involving concerned government offices, communities, project staff and other responsible development actors.
Support in the development of comprehensive and detailed implementation plans of the project.
Ensure the proper functioning and quality of community childcare centers
Ensure capacity of caregivers, Child Care Center facilitators/community facilitators and target beneficiaries is built on proper nurturing care for young children.
Ensure that the knowledge and skills of parents are built on practicing early stimulation and responsive caregiving for young children and the parents are linked up with public service providers
Provide regular coaching and supportive supervision to community facilitators, caregivers and childcare center workers.
Support in setting up a monitoring and evaluation system that will document the processes of implementing the childcare service.
Support organizing monthly parenting sessions with beneficiaries on various issues related to ECD
Liase with women economic empowerment specialist to ensure strong linkages of ECD with empowerment components of project
Participate in the assessment and evaluation of the project and in drawing recommendation on how to scale up the program at national level
Actively participate in developing sustainability strategy of the intervention
Ensure that the project interventions are properly handed over to the communities and concerned government offices.
Coordination
Coordinate the implementation of age and culturally appropriate, environmentally friendly learning spaces, play, early stimulation and early learning for children aged 1-5 years.
Facilitate consultation with government and community stakeholders including project participants on the importance of setting up and managing community-based Child Care Centers.
Coordinate the implementation of awareness creation activities about early childhood development (proper childcare) at the household level (focusing on caregivers), at the community level and government office level involving key actors and providing coaching and supervision.
Conduct advocacy work with relevant government offices, community leaders and front-line service provider on ensuring child-friendly childcare spaces.
Coordinate interventions that can strengthen community level structures, resource mobilization, coordination, referral linkage for childcare services and establish linkages with women economic empowerment.
Safeguarding
Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures and conduct activities in a manner consistent with Child fund’s Child Safeguarding Policy.
Comply with ChildFund policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
Required Experience and Education
Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience. Experience in working with community-based organizations is required.
Experiences should be in project designing, implementing and coordinating child-focused projects and working at the grass root level.
Fluent in English, Amharic, and additional local languages is an asset.
Knowledge of childcare and linkages with women economic empowerment is an asset
Good training and facilitation skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal communications, relationship-building, team player, conflict management, and negotiation skills, especially when developing / maintaining contacts and influencing partners.
Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management software and internet and other computer applications.
Be available and willing to regularly travel and conduct field visits, trainings, coaching/mentoring, and supportive supervision activities at project locations
Able to multi-task and on occasion work in high pressure environment with tight deadlines

University degree, preferably at post graduate level in Early Childhood Development/Education or related fields
