Ayuda en Acción Foundation is a secular, non-partisan international non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1981 with a global commitment to fight against poverty, inequality, and exclusion. In Ethiopia, Ayuda en Acción has supported a range of humanitarian and development interventions through local and international partners between 2002 and 2017; an independent country program was established in 2018. Ayuda en Acción Ethiopia aspires to tackle poverty, inequalities, and exclusion that perpetuate poverty. The organization perceives women, men, girls, and boys as the center of its efforts in the country, giving it an impetus to strengthen people’s and institutions’ capacities to meaningfully contribute to the development and dignified life of all in Ethiopia. To achieve its mission, Ayuda en Acción Ethiopia has been working in Afar, Oromia, and South Ethiopia Regional States in close cooperation with local and international partners, international research institutes, Government, and private sector actors.
Ayuda en Acción Ethiopia, as part of the institutional strategy, manages a range of projects: Food security and resilient food system, employment, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, value chain using market system, inclusive education and gender, humanitarian and resilience building within three program priorities: sustainable livelihoods and resilient food systems; inclusive education; and emergency response and resilience building. Ayuda en Acción are part of Alliance 2015, a strategic network of seven European NGOs engaged in humanitarian aid and development projects.
Ayuda en Acción Ethiopia is seeking energetic, disciplined, responsible staffs on the following positions for EC funded project being implemented in consortium, PIN, DEC and Ayuda en Acción Ethiopia in Oromia (Borena and Guji zones), Tigray (central Zone), and Afar (zone 1, 2 &4) regions, respectively. The project aims to empower youth and women to enhanced food and nutrition security and livelihood resilience of women and youth in rural areas of disaster-affected areas by facilitating access to inclusive and green job opportunities.
Objective of the Position and reporting line:
The Project Officers are responsible for the day-to-day implementation, monitoring of the EU-funded project (EuropeAid/179149/DD/ACT/ET) under Ayuda en Acción Ethiopia specific deliverables in the Consortium, Afar region. This will include implementation, community mobilization, in coordination with the Enterprise development coordinator and Area Program Manager. This position holder is responsible for quality implementation and adherence to technical standards in line with donor policy, procedure and Ayuda en Acción’ s regulations and policies.
Under direct supervision of the área Program manager, the project officer ensures frontline operation of planned project activities at districts and kebeles levels. S/he implements the development project and produces all the necessary reports, liaise with government signatories, partners and communities; performs additional tasks as assigned by his / her immediate supervisor. The project officers will work closely with key stakeholders, including youth enterprises, SACCOs, TVETs, government bodies, and business support organizations.
Project Implementation:
Assist in the day-to-day implementation of the project’s activities, ensuring they are executed according to the work plan.
Facilitate skills development training, workshops, and capacity-building programs for rural youth.
Support the organization of job placement and internship programs with local businesses and employers.
Conduct outreach activities in rural communities to raise awareness about the project’s objectives and opportunities.
Support youth and SACCOs in identifying viable business opportunities in rural areas.
Liaise with government sectors and communities at the districts and kebeles levels, facilitate institutional capacity building support to the project owners.
Organize mentoring and coaching sessions to youth SME establish and grow their businesses.
Monitoring, documentation and Reporting:
Monitor the progress of activities and report on a regular basis.
Assist in data collection and analysis to assess the impact of the project on rural youth employment.
Prepare regular progress reports for the Project Coordinator and Area Manager.
Facilitate and carry out the proper documentation and sharing of the project design, process, achievements and best experiences to bring about positive live changes in the lives of the people.
Ensure quality, timely implementation, monitoring and reporting in compliance with AeA and donor requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Maintain effective relationships with local government authorities, TVETs, private sectors, cooperatives, training providers, and employers in the region.
Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that youth receive the necessary support in their job searches or entrepreneurial ventures.
Perform additional task provided by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, agricultural economics, economics, value chain development, Development Studies, Business, or a related field.
At least 4 years of experience working on youth employment, especially in small and medium enterprises, rural development, market system development/ value chains or livelihoods projects in NGOs preferably more than 3 years in International NGOs
Understanding the challenges and opportunities related to rural employment, especially for youth.
Experience in community engagement, training facilitation, or entrepreneurship support is a plus.
Ability to work with diverse rural communities and adapt to local conditions.
Key Competencies:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with young people.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes.
Languages:
Very good command of written and verbal communication in English and Afari
