Job Description
The HR Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all people-related activities, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, Leave Management, payroll and overseeing all activities under the Human Resources department. The HR Manager will ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies and lead talent development initiatives to ensure the continuous growth and capability-building of employees.
Plan and conduct recruitment and selection processes, including interviews, screening, and reference checking.
Source and identify qualified candidates for open positions.
Oversee the recruitment process and manage employee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
Partner with department heads to develop job descriptions and ensure clarity in role expectations.
Determine current staffing needs, and review and recommend employee pay and benefits.
Develop and implement compensation and reward strategies that attract, motivate, and retain talent.
Oversee payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely salary payments, deductions, and compliance with tax regulations.
Conduct market salary surveys to ensure competitive compensation packages.
Oversee the pension, insurance, and employee benefit management programs.
Identify, develop, and implement improvements in HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
Ensure all employees have updated job descriptions and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Manage the performance evaluation process, ensuring that reviews are conducted on time and that feedback is actionable.
Support managers in setting performance development goals and provide ongoing support to enhance employee performance.
Lead talent development initiatives by identifying training needs and developing internal and external training programs to build workforce capabilities.
Evaluate training programs to ensure alignment with organizational goals and track effectiveness through post-training assessments.
Create and implement succession plans for critical roles to ensure organizational continuity and growth.
Collaborate with department heads to identify high-potential employees and support their career development plans.
Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive work culture and improve employee satisfaction.
Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and implement action plans based on feedback to address areas for improvement.
Recommend new processes and ways of working to improve efficiency, performance, and reduce operational costs.
Ensure that HR activities comply with current legislation and legal provisions affecting HR operations.
Oversee the implementation of health and safety regulations to maintain a compliant and safe workplace.
Handle employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and grievances, to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Oversee the closure of employee clearance processes and ensure smooth transfers or exits where applicable.
Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives to ensure an equitable and respectful workplace for all employees.
Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Strong personnel and team management skills.
Good knowledge of Ethiopian labor law.
Ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations.
Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong knowledge of talent development, employee engagement, and succession planning
Experience:
BA degree in Management, Business Administration, or Human Resource Management.
Proven skills in administration and human resources management.
5 years of experience in human resources, out of which 2 years in a managerial role.
