The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus(Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical, Research studies, Vaccine, and Traditional Medicine research institute that works in developing tools for research studies, Vaccine, prevention, control, and treatment of neglected tropical diseases and other diseases of public health importance through applied, basic biomedical research, research studies, and training.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitoring Surveillance Systems the primary responsibility involves monitoring and controlling a AHRI of screens linked to surveillance cameras placed in public places, buildings, and construction sites to detect and prevent crime, protect people, and maintain a safe and secure environment.

• Operating and Controlling Cameras this includes the operation of camera positions, focusing on specific areas, and monitoring anyone acting suspiciously.

• Notifying Authorities the controller is responsible for notifying security staff or the police if they observe any acts of theft, vandalism, or other crimes, as well as notifying the police of any anti-social behavior.

• Detecting and Reporting Safety Concerns the controller is responsible for detecting and reporting any safety concerns and potential security threats identified through the surveillance systems.

• Maintaining Equipment the duties involve maintaining the control center equipment, performing daily system checks, and ensuring the functionality of the CCTV operating system and recording and retrieval systems.

• Maintaining a Safe and Secure Environment ensuring the maintenance of a safe and secure environment by actively monitoring security cameras both inside and outside the facility.

• Record Keeping: Keeping a log of all incidents and maintaining log books and registers is also part of the role.

• Testifying in Court the controller may be called to give evidence in court as a witness.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Proficiency the role requires technical expertise in operating and maintaining surveillance systems and related equipment.

• Technical Expertise the role requires technical proficiency in operating and managing security camera systems and related surveillance technology.

• Vigilance and Attention to Detail the ability to maintain constant vigilance and attention to detail while monitoring surveillance feeds is essential for this role.

• Communication Skills effective communication skills are important for reporting and escalating any security incidents or concerns.

Job Requirements

·         Diploma or Degree (IT) Information Technology 

·         3 and above years of experience for Information Technology Assistance related field and other 

·         Knowledge of security

.         Knowledge of computer skills 

.         Database and system & Microsoft application software support skills
