Kadisco Paint and Adhesive Industry S.C. previously known as Kadisco Chemical Industry PLC is a privately owned company located in Addis Ababa in the Akaki Kality Industrial Zone area. Kadisco is a company that traces its origins back from a small automotive parts dealership that was operating in one of the busy streets of Addis Ababa back in late 60’s. During the period until 1975 it had the opportunity to act as the sole distributor for Sadoline Paints. In 1979 it was registered as the sole company to manufacture adhesives and glue. By stages, the company developed into a diversified paint manufacturer.

In February 2015, Asian Paints Ltd and Kadisco Paint and Adhesive Industry SC formed a joint venture for business in Ethiopia and came to be known as Kadisco Asian paints. Position Summary 

The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for overseeing and conducting procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services, develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, evaluate suppliers, and monitor supplier performance. The Senior Procurement Officer also drives process improvements and supports organizational objectives through efficient procurement practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Materials and vendor management, including developing alternate vendors.

• Generating purchase order requests for raw material (RM) and packaging material (PM) purchases based on stock levels.

• Monitoring vendor management and material management in SAP, starting from vendor code introduction and source list maintenance.

• Preparing and reporting material forecasts in coordination with the production team.

• Conducting quarterly balance confirmations with all suppliers.

• Coordinating with the Accounts team to resolve any queries related to supplier balances.

• Coordinating with suppliers for price quotations.

• Ensuring proper documentation for LC opening and purchase order approval to the bank.

• Opening LC/PO at the bank through the Ethiopian Single Window system and sharing LC/PO with the vendor.

• Ensuring insurance coverage for incoming RM and PM through the Ethiopian Single Window system.

• Creating and maintaining purchase orders on the SAP system for each consignment.

• Following up on vendor orders to ensure timely delivery and resolving any delays.

• Coordinating with external interfaces such as banks, insurance companies, and shipping agents for the material import process.

• Coordinating with the industry minister and Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority for chemical registration.

• Collecting import documents from the bank and facilitating payment transfer to the vendor.

• Collecting freight invoices from ESL and coordinating with finance for freight settlement.

• Coordinating with clearing agencies for shipment clearance at the port.

• Verifying inward material quality and quantity in accordance with R&D standards.

• Maintaining all required import documents in the Transit Operation file (TR File).

• Settling payments with transitors and collecting customs declarations.

• Presenting the final declaration to the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) for clearance.

• Coordinating with the Central IT team for system issues, new developments, and process improvements.

• Performing any other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience Requirements                   

• Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.

• Preferably experienced in Logistics and Supply Chain, although not mandatory.

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in import and export, preferably within the manufacturing industry, with a focus on raw material procurement, particularly in the paint industry.

• Extensive knowledge and experience in import and export processes.

• Capable of handling interactions with banks, ESL customs, and other governmental organizations.

• Fluent in both Amharic and English, the working languages of the company.
