The purpose of this job is to manage and execute Oxfam's WASH activities through contractors/partnership/direct management, programmer planning, implementation, review & support the delivery of the PHE component as part of the OGB North Ethiopia program. The position holder will also proactively seek entry points to integrate with PHP and other sectors such as FSL, gender, and protection.

Job Requirement

An ideal candidate for the role will also be/have:

  • Bachelor of Public Health Engineering / WASH related engineering degree, or related fields that can add value to the post. Master degree is added value

  • Minimum of 3+ years working experience in WASH program, with demonstrated understanding of public health promotion.

  • Experience in emergency response (Drought, AWD, and IDPs, returnees, and vulnerable host community context) is essential.

  • Experience and understanding of community mobilization about water, sanitation, and hygiene activities.

  • Reasonable command of English, Amharic, and Tigrigna.

  • Willingness to live and work in remote field conditions or locations with minimal amenities.

  • Ability to be a team player, facilitate activity implementation within agreed periods and timeframes, and work innovatively under minimal supervision.

  • Experience in collaborating with local partners, including government authorities, NGOs, and community-based organizations.

  • Demonstrable experience in integrating gender and diversity into emergency response programs and long-term strategies.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work in diverse cultural contexts.

  • Alignment with the aims and objectives of Oxfam and commitment to humanitarian principles and action.

  • Data Management and Reporting Skills.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop and implement effective solutions to public health challenges. Has contract management skills

  • Cultural Competency: Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural nuances that affect public health practices.

  • Believes, commits, and Upholds Oxfam’s values (empowerment, accountability, and inclusion), leadership behavior, and code of conduct.
