The Role:

Oxfam {affiliate/} is looking for a WASH TEAM LEADER who involves direct management of support staff and MEAL staff, providing people management and day-to-day support at the sub-office. However, those staff will have matrix reporting (close and day-to-day support) to Mekelle’s department heads to ensure adequate oversight and support in delivering the program.

Job Requirements

An ideal candidate for the role will also be/have:

  • University Degree in Engineering (such as civil, and architecture who can lead technical assessment and develop BoQs) or in public health/WaSH-related subject or environmental health science from a recognized academic institution.

  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in I/NGO settings.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading WASH (PHP & PHE) projects in contexts involving IDPs, Returnees, and vulnerable affected host communities.

  • Fluency in local language and English (written and verbal)

  • Experience in Monitoring/management of projects.

  • Demonstrated skills in coordination with internal/external stakeholders.

  • Strategic thinking, proactive in anticipating problems, and open communication.

  • Good demonstrable understanding of WASH particularly public health engineering

  • Purpose-driven, results-focused approach who takes responsibility for her/his actions and holds us accountable. Able to travel to field locations up to 60%
