The Role

The MEAL Assistant is responsible for supporting the MEAL function in the North program area office including methodological design, preparing data collection tools, lead data collection, data cleaning, and data analysis, and reporting MEAL activities for all Oxfam projects in the field office. S/he will provide MEAL technical support in need assessment, baselines, evaluations, establishing and implanting beneficiary compliance and feedback system, monitoring MEAL activities, and ensuring program quality as per Oxfam program quality standard, Core Humanitarian Standards as well as CAMSA minimum requirements and work closely with the field program teams, Other INGOs, Cluster members, partners, and other local agencies and key line-local Government officials.

Job Requirement

An ideal candidate for the role will also be/have:

  • Minimum of BA/BSC in Data Management, Statistics, Economics, Social sciences, or other related field.

  • At least two years in MEAL or similar work experience with an international NGO;

  • Experience in communications with affected communities (CWAC) or accountability to affected populations (AAP) activities.

  • Experience with feedback and complaints response mechanisms;

  • Good knowledge of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Tigrigna.

  • Experience working in a multicultural team.

  • Excellent coordination skills.

  • Strong commitment to gender equality and social justice.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven knowledge of computerized systems; high degree of computer literacy and word processing and spreadsheet skills.

  • Knowledge of simple Excel functions, including formulas and creating graphs from data sets.
