The Activity focuses on enhancing multisector coordination and accountability; improving nutrition practices and health-seeking behaviors; and strengthening delivery of quality nutrition services within USAID’s Feed the Future Zones of Influence.  

Position: Content Developer

Duty station: Addis Ababa CO 

Number: 01 

The Content Developer provides robust support in managing and maintaining the organization’s digital platforms, including the Feed the Future Ethiopia Community Nutrition Activity (Community Nutrition) website. The position holder’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, deploying and optimizing content using technologies such as React (Next.js) and Node.js, managing hosting environments via cPanel, and ensuring all digital materials are aligned with organizational branding standards. The Content Developer will actively collaborate with the Communications Team, IT and others to update web content, improve website performance, and support SEO strategies. S/He will also assist in maintaining and troubleshooting the website and server environments while contributing to enhancing user engagement across digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage website content using React (Next.js) for front-end interfaces and Node.js for back-end functionality.

• Deploy and maintain content through cPanel, ensuring seamless integration with web hosting services.

• Optimize website performance and ensure compatibility across browsers and devices.

• Monitor and troubleshoot technical issues related to website functionality, uptime, and content delivery.

• Collaborate with the Communications Team and others to ensure content aligns with organizational goals and branding.

• Implement SEO strategies to enhance content visibility.

• Ensure data security and compliance with industry best practices during content deployment.

• Create and manage reusable components and templates for rapid content updates.

• Assist in content analytics reporting and provide actionable insights to improve user engagement.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Applied knowledge and skills:

• Proficient in React (Next.js) for front-end development and Node.js for server-side scripting.

• Strong understanding of cPanel and server management.

• Experience in integrating and maintaining CMS platforms.

• Familiarity with SEO practices, website analytics tools, and performance optimization.

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on user experience and functionality.

Problem solving & impact:

• Works on complex problems across the organization that require routine coordination with communications team, IT and other teams.

Supervision given/received:

• Receives instructions on new assignments. 

• Reports to the Communications Advisor for Feed the Future Ethiopia Community Nutrition Activity.

Job Requirements

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• 0–3 years of hands-on experience with React (Next.js), Node.js, and cPanel.

• Familiarity with SEO tools, web hosting environments, and CMS integration.

• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Experience in content management and troubleshooting in server environments.

• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and database integration is a plus.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Prior experience working in an NGO or similar environment is a plus.

Typical Physical Demands:

• Typical office environment.

• Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.

• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.
