Job Description

Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is an Ethiopian indigenous, “Civil Society Organization” established in 2014. ASDEPO is mandated to operate in all regional states of the country and is engaged indifferent thematic program areas of intervention namely: Humanitarian Response, Education, Health/HIV and AIDS/RH, Women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Gender Based Violence and Child Protection, Migration/Human Trafficking, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (Wash), NTD’s Climate Change, Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Training in Gambella, Oromiya, Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, SNNPR and Somali Region. 

The MPC Support Officer oversees s the implementation of multipurpose cash assistance project Interventions in Laelay Tselemti/Dima. This will require constant interaction with the MPC program coordinator as well as with sites coordination structures and financial service providers. The MPC Support Officer will also have an administrative responsibility of ensuring that support staff as well as financial service providers are actively following their Terms of Reference and abiding by ASDEPO’s Code of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate to all Cash Transfer Project-related fieldwork including community mobilization program,  beneficiary identification/registration, and verification

  • Coordinate payment procedures, including documentation, and reporting to ensure accountability to donor and the organization.

  • Oversee Cash Transfer project such as preparing beneficiary list, timesheet submission, payment schedules, and other documentation and follow up with relevant departments.

  • Liaising and coordination with all humanitarian partners and stakeholders working in the sites

  • Liaising and coordination with local authorities responsible for site administration

  •  Liaising with Sub National Cash Working Group

  • Monitoring Financial Service Provider 

  • Liaising with Program Coordinator, Regional and Area Coordinator and FSP in setting up agreement and cash distribution plan

  •  Supporting FSP in respecting distribution deadlines and guidelines

  • Facilitate awareness raising on the MPC utilization and HLP support

  • Facilitate market assessment and MPC post distribution assessment.

  • Contribute to effective program reporting, monitoring and evaluation systems for both internal and external use in coordination with the other program staff.

  • Participate sub-national cash working group meetings

  • Submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports timely

  • Participate in cash assessment exercises

Reports to-Field Coordinator

Employment Type: Contract for 8 months

Job Requirements

Qualification and Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, in social work, business administration, development studies, projects management, and other relevant fields.

  • 1-3 years of direct field experience in Cash Transfer program preferably with an NGO setting.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently

  • Extremely flexible, and can cope with stressful situations and frustrations

  • Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Understanding of the local culture & language is advantageous

Required Language

  • Fluent spoken and written local language is an asset.
