Job Description
The project team leader is responsible for the overall management, planning and implementation of all the project activities in the various sectors within the project area mentioned below. He is responsible for the management of the project’s personnel and financial and material resources. He ensures the proper running of the project and liaises the project with government and other stakeholders. The project will be implemented in Jewi Refugee Camp and the surrounding kebeles (Jewi, Qarmi and Bonga).
Coordinate and supervise overall administrative and operational activities of the project in Jewi refugee camp and kebeles in the surrounding areas.
Ensure that project activities are implemented as per the plan, within the Pre-determined timelines and allocated budget,
Lead the overall planning, implementation and monitoring of the livelihoods and climate change and resilience building interventions,
Follow up and participate in the climate risk assessment, baseline study and mapping of stakeholders in climate change and resilience building,
Build relationship and work with networks on climate change and resilience building issues to advance the issue of climate change,
Represent LWF in various sector platforms and task force meetings at camp, woreda, zonal levels and regional levels.
Closely follow up on the performance of component officers of the project and take timely corrective measures for performance below expectation,
Initiate, coordinate and conduct various needs assessment and propose new interventions as necessary,
Keep appropriate contact with UNHCR, RRS, government line departments, local authorities, service cooperatives, CBOs, local population, as well as with other institutions and NGOs as found necessary for the project planning, implementation, collaboration and sustainability.
Administer and supervise the entire project personnel and such responsibilities include all managerial activities like hiring, suspending and taking or recommending disciplinary actions in accordance with the labour law and the policy and guidelines of the organization,
Monitor project expenditures on daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure that it is within the approved budget,
Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual and terminal reports and submit to the concerned program officer as per the reporting schedules,
Set annual objective to project staff and compile performances by annually
Prepare annual work plan and working budget and submit to the head office through the concerned program officer,
Ensure proper operation of the project office and build and facilitate team work among project staff,
Conduct project management meetings every on a weekly or biweekly basis and submit the minutes to concerned program officer on regular basis,
Induct new staff with all LWF Ethiopia Staff Rules, Organizational Polices and other Operational Manuals,
Facilitate capacity building initiatives to staff and local level actors on various issues including climate change and disaster risk reduction,
Collect, analyze, document and share learnings and best practices in the areas of climate change, gender, disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience building,
Follow all organizational procedures as outlined in LWF’s policies, staff rules, and other operation manuals,
Perform any other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Program Officer or his/her designate,
Qualification
Master’s or BA degree in Development studies, Rural development, Agriculture, Economics, Social Science, or another related field
Relevant experience of at least 5 years for BA/Bsc and 3 year for MA/Msc. degree.
Additional requirement.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to represent the organization in official meetings at various levels
Fluency in written and spoken English
Ability to speak a local language is advantageous.
